Illuminati Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 I'd usually name something dark but honestly The Devil Wears Prada is a classic
Smarticle Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 recently - Everything Everywhere All at once - cause it tackles so many themes so intelligently and absurdly that it works - esp existentialism
youngpopariana Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 (edited) She’s The Man (Amanda Bynes’ comedic timing and her chemistry with the other actors) Avengers (Does this one even need explanation ?) Cruella (amazing storyline, Emma Stone’s great performance, top tier costumes) I have other contenders but I can’t think of them right now Edited June 24, 2022 by youngpopariana
shinyshimmery Posted June 24, 2022 Posted June 24, 2022 Legally Blonde I never get tired of that movie, and everytime I feel down or upset I watch it to lift my spirits.

JoeAg Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Fight Club every time I rewatch it it's just as good as the previous time. the representations of insomnia in the cinematography, the characterization of the narrator, the characterization and aesthetics of Marla, Tyler's mannerisms and general sexiness and charisma, the subtle score, the brutality and homoeroticism of the fight scenes, the final scene with the buildings exploding, that one scene where the narrator beats himself up in front of his boss... everything coalesces to create a true masterpiece of drama, with clever coming-of-age undertones Eraserhead grotesque body horror sequences, a tragic storyline, industrial landscapes, and eerie soundscapes... just a masterclass in surrealism, with occasional moments of bizarre sweetness (i.e. the lady in the radiator). I love how the entire thing is in black & white, and how it feels like every character has split ends, bad skin, and hyperhidrosis. it gives the whole thing a very human, mortal feel, whereas a lot of body horror since doesn't quite touch on that element. David Lynch of course went on to have a storied career, and Twin Peaks is one of my favorite shows ever, but Eraserhead is his biggest win when it comes to film imo Mean Girls the perfect comedy. just so funny and iconic and memorable the whole way through lol
Bears01 Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Jurassic Park Pulp Fiction The Dark Knight iconic, amazing, entertaining, and all in all, fantastic films

PennywiseTheClown Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 Suspiria by Dario Argento, it's one big fever nightmare. The shots are composed like a painting, the colors and lightning are magnificent and the soundtrack gives you chills. The uncohesive bizarre plot adds to the nightmare experience. So unique. 2001: A Space Oddysey by Stanley Kubrick is possibily the best film ever made. Intelligent, visually stunning, technically innovative and it birthed everything from Star Wars to Blade Runner and Inception. I love the themes of man vs machine and extraterrestrial life so this film is so interesting to me. I have to name Call Me By Your Name too, the book is already amazing but Luca Guadagnino managed to make the film even better. Every change he made regarding the book is for the better, like Elio dropping his girlfriend like a brick when it gets serious with Oliver and Oliver saying their final goodbye over the phone instead of him coming over to visit again. It just adds to the emotions and the message of the story. It's the only film adaption I've ever watched that was better than the book. The last 20 minutes or so always leave me in shambles.
