It technically is still legal...

This confirms it. America is home to too many Karens. It needs an intervention.

Also, Republicans suck... on the wrong kind of balls.

Gays who vote Republican and third party this is on you :biblio:

Very weird country. They can't ban the guns and let 3947283782 children die in the classroom but they ban this.

yes... because a ***** is more dangerous... especially if it is not put in a faithful karen-type of woman (prefereably obsese and with a southern accent, white and with should long hair and blue painted finger nails who tries to return sth like an USB drive because "she couldn't get it to work" on her Windows 95 tower PC).

I don’t have a direct reference to provide, but I think there have been a few major factors:

1) This has been the result of many years of strategic planning by the right wing. It started with the rise of inflammatory conservative media during the late 80s/90s. There was some law that was taken away that forced broadcasters to remain neutral and provide multiple viewpoints. This resulted in talk radio and TV media that only honed in on conservative views, leading to more people becoming zombies and listening just to conservative talking points.

2) I genuinely believe that a black man becoming president basically sent all of these right wing people into the next level of insanity. They doubled down on their bigotry because they couldn’t handle the fact that Obama was our leader.

3) Social media has united their cause and allowed them to find many others who serve their echo chamber of hate and disinformation.

It has been a long buildup that the general public wasn’t aware of until 2016 and beyond. Since Trump’s election, it has accelerated beyond belief and now it’s 1970 again.

Wow, I've never read about about the first point before. I am going to educate myself further on this. Thank you.

It practically starts earlier in the 50s

how would an anti-sodomy law even work, for those of us who have sex behind closed doors?  I realize something like Folsom Fair and bathhouses would be obvious targets, but what about me in my own house that I own?

Does anyone have a good video or book or anything on why the country is reverting back the past so rapidly.  Is this really all because of the rise of social justice that caused conservatives to go crazy? I really want to educate myself on this.

Depends on how much energy you have and far down the rabbit hole you want to go.

1. Start with articles on Amy Comey Barrett's cult, People of Praise

2. Next go to articles on Theocratic Mercenaries, like Erik Prince. Expand to books on Christian nationalism+prosperity gospel

3. Then do some deep dives in articles on the Trump tech nihilists, including Peter Thiel and Larry Ellison

4. Continue with deep dives on The Heritage Foundation, The Federalist Society, Koch brothers and the Mercer family

5. Then on the rise of Trump look into Steve Bannon harnessing the alt-right; books on Gamergate, 4Chan, and Rise of the Incels

6. After Devil's Bargain look into large scale studies from PRRI, etc. on white cultural displacement [Dying of Whiteness]

7. Keep going to Cambridge Analytica's psychographic microtargeting in the Upper Midwest [Carol Cadwalladr]

8. Continue to work from Naomi Klein on cultural alienation from corporate governance, such as the seminal No Logo

9. Finally, articles on the new Karl Rove, Christopher Rufo, and how he inserted CRT panic and trans panic back in schools

Could keep going but that's more than enough territory.

In the 1950s, there were witch-hunts for people participating in same-sex sex where citizens would report people they thought were having same-sex sex. I imagine some homophobes will use Grindr to find gays to report. This already happens in Russia and other countries where homosexuality is punishable by law.

Cops on Grindr pretending to be gay men looking for sex, then arrest you when you meet. Happens in the Middle East.

Well I’m not on the apps thankfully. I’m in a relationship. But that would suck for others. Hopefully it never gets to that point.

You’re missing the point and being so compliant. You’d still be a full-blown criminal in the eyes of the law. The very country you live in would deem you unworthy of existing based on something you can’t even change about you. That “That would suck for others” attitude is the reason basic civil liberties are being taken away.

Here. This is the 2003 case that shot down the law:

In 1998, John Geddes Lawrence Jr., an older white man, was arrested along with Tyron Garner, a younger black man, at Lawrence's apartment in Harris County, Texas. Garner's former boyfriend had called the police, claiming that there was a man with a weapon in the apartment. Sheriff's deputies said they found the men engaging in sexual intercourse. Lawrence and Garner were charged with a misdemeanor under Texas' anti-sodomy law; both pleaded no contest and received a fine. Assisted by the American civil rights organization Lambda Legal, Lawrence and Garner appealed their sentences to the Texas Courts of Appeals, which ruled in 2000 that the sodomy law was unconstitutional. Texas appealed to have the court rehear the case en banc, and in 2001 it overturned its prior judgment and upheld the law. Lawrence appealed this decision to the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, which denied his request for appeal. Lawrence then appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court, which agreed to hear his case.
