The vote was 6-3. 5-4 wouldn’t have changed anything thing.

A lot of initial reporting was incorrect and said 6-3. Just updated OP.

Yea! I was just pointing out how of the 5 that voted against, 3 of those were Trump appointed justices :monkey:

Yeah, let's blame RGB instead of far-left idiots who didn't vote for Hillary and prevented her from appointing three liberal judges.

Yep. HRC literally said this would happen. She said it in 2016 (or 2015, I can't remember) and Progressives ignored her and continued to rally against her because they were upset Bernie couldn't get the votes to be the nominee. They pushed and pushed, claiming Trump would be the "lesser of two evils" because he was "not a politician". Considering how close the 2016 election was, it's 100% understandable to blame the Progressive faction that helped push an anti-HRC campaign along with the Republicans.

Or maybe blame Hillary for intentionally promoting Trump and running a terrible campaign? :dies:

RBG retiring earlier wouldn't have stopped Trump from putting two Conservatives on the court and still getting a Conservative majority.

Biden is part of the Executive branch.

SCOTUS is part of the Judicial branch.

Both are co-equal branches of gov't with co-equal powers (along with the legislative branch).

All three branches exist as checks and balances against one another so no one branch can become too powerful.

Long story short, there's nothing Biden can do. Only Congress can pass a law codifying Roe, but that's not going to happen unless Dems nuke the filibuster, which they currently can't do with Sinema and Manchin refusing.

What is with you people and your inability to understand how the US gov't works? It's not that hard to Google. There is literally nothing Biden can do about this apart from putting out a statement. Nothing. SCOTUS exists as a completely separate branch of the government, and is part of a branch created solely to curb the power of the Executive branch (the President).

He could expand the Supreme Court? It’s ONLY fair after the Republican Party AKA Mitch McShithole stalled/denied hearings for Obama’s nominee citing “let the people decide what they want with the upcoming election” back in 2015, then shoehorning another Justice onto the court after republicunts LOST the midterms.

Really sad, they’re probably gonna come for other human rights after this

Extreme polarisation created by social media algorithms that put people into like-minded bubbles. The right ended up organising much better

This is what people in the left/liberals in the US don’t get, the right wing is extremely organized and loyal between them, left/liberals keep fighting over who is more woke, left wing and tearing down one another over the smallest things.

It’s basically:

(far left vs moderate liberals) vs all the right wing.

This is really really bad, it’s extremely archaic.

Basic human rights being stolen in front of everyone.

It's so infuriating how avoidable this all would have been if Hillary was elected. She literally had a plan for this all the way back in the 2016 debates.

Was it 5-4 or 6-3? I see some sources saying 6-3.

It’s like a fever dream. It’s like if the feminist movement never existed and now these so-called judges are after gay rights.

Isn’t Biden supposed to be “the world’s most powerful man”?

Why can’t he just nuke this decision.

America’s political system is so bad.

That is not how this works at all… girl

It's 5-4 via AP and Reuters. Some initial reports said 6-3.

When I originally had the OP before the merge I had put 6-3 by accident from those initial reports but updated it before it transferred.

We are trapped under minority rule. All this arguing over what could've been is moot until we fix the systemic issues but I'm afraid its too late. This feels like the death knell of America as we know it.

Apparently a lot of initial reporting was this was a 6-3 decision which is incorrect. It's actually 5-4.

Will try to get tweets with justice breakdown for OP and first page.

hence why this is all RBG's fault
