Birth control is not 100% effective, rape exists as a thing, etc. I mean I think abortion should be allowed regardless of those things and I don’t think a clump of cells is equivalent to life, so we’ll never agree, but there are massive, gaping holes in the “you’re asking for it!” thing.

This is such a gross mindset   Birth control and condoms are close, but not 100% effective. Accidents still happen,  and on top of that, so does rape.

How is it gross to know that unprotected sex leads to pregnancy? That is basic biology. If you don't want to get pregnant, there are tons of ways to avoid it that DON'T involve killing

You did not read the opinion. Next is a ban on contraception. This opinion opened the door to Scotus allowing states to ban the sell of contraception, including birth control.

This as a conservative goal makes so much sense if you read a bit on the basis of Roe v. Wade. Even just the Wikipedia article - I’ve read that the basis of that decision was essentially that the court viewed rights of and related to procreation as being less important than the right to privacy (the same right upon which the decisions that Thomas wants to overturn are founded). As the Republican Party slowly corrodes into a Christian fascist institution, and America along with it, procreation is elevated to sacrosanct status, such that even the mother may not interfere. It’s horrifying, misguided, and altogether stupid, but this is undoubtedly our first step in the march toward a Christian fascist nation where the laws of a fictional book of words from an invisible man in the sky dictate our lives. It started long ago, but while everyone else was dealing with other things, they laid the foundation they needed and now we’re on the path.
