The kid actors were bad too. Watchable but frustrating. 5.75/10 Your Grace Randolph era i fear
arceus Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 I expected a plot twist or at least a classic gore scene and this movie gave me NOTHING

Smarticle Posted July 20, 2022 Posted July 20, 2022 I enjoyed it for the simple story that it was. Ya, some of the lines delivered by the kids kinda took me out of the story but they're kids so.

Power love Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 Everyone saying this movie was amazing or good must have low standards. This film had so much potential yet went nowhere. I’m very disappointed. So many things was predictable & you mean to tell me that kid did all that down stairs yet the killer didn’t know? Like… The whole ghost phone thing was silly as well.
Bombshell Posted July 21, 2022 Posted July 21, 2022 I was a little let down by the ending, but I still enjoyed the movie.
Mr.Link Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 Did the killer have any motive other than boredom? Also the phone being just there with no actual backstory, lore, connection, anything?
BreakinTheIce Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 I really liked this, but the only thing that really bugged me was the brother thing. The guy took like, what, 5 or 6 kids? I get some of those were before the brother came into town, but he said he was there for at least like a month or something? There's no way he could've snatched even 1 or 2 and kept them down there and done all that stuff without the brother suspecting *anything*
QueenBLadyG Posted July 22, 2022 Posted July 22, 2022 Loved this. The concept and execution were as impressive as the acting and atmosphere. Ethan delivered quite the performance while having his face covered the majority of the time. The kids - particularly the siblings - were the standouts to me though. I want to read the comic that inspired the film now. And I need to give Mr. Hawke his flowers. That man's body. SNATCH, KIDNAP and render me UNCONSCIOUS, sir!
sunmimi imfurst Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 (edited) I think this was a solid, well rounded movie. Spoiler I agree, more of the Snatcher could of made it stronger. We can read between the lines with somethings. I assumed the Snatcher also had the gift but ignored it. And I assume he was also abused and that’s where the naughty boy came from. The brother was mostly a plot device to make the snatcher stressed and move things along I feel. Or else we could be watching Finney for weeks ? Also the sister slayed. I’m surprised ppl are complaining about the acting lol. Overall I think it was captivating enough, and sometimes twists aren’t needed Edited July 24, 2022 by sunmimi imfurst
superchaz Posted July 24, 2022 Posted July 24, 2022 They’re making a second part so I wouldn’t be surprised if they do a prequel of how Ethan Hawke became the grabber so maybe they will focus on him being a kid and being locked up in that room with the phone. I hope they don’t go down the purge route and crap out meaning less sequels and ring the franchise dry
highdefinition Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 this one was so creepy - the mask changing every time really freaked me out too lol
BeachRat Posted July 25, 2022 Posted July 25, 2022 this looked like the horror/thriller movie of the year and it SUCKED. fell asleep twice.
Hurem Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 This was fun, but really nothing special. It was very in your face, there was nothing that would make you think about the plot itself. 6.5/10
JustHoran Posted July 26, 2022 Posted July 26, 2022 Loved this movie! So good and also creepy. Great acting too.
Sweetestsecret Posted July 31, 2022 Posted July 31, 2022 (edited) Surpassed 'Scream' .. The success of 'black phone' is really impressive.. it's already available on VOD services but people still want to see it in theatres . Edited July 31, 2022 by Sweetestsecret
Roberto Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 This was good, neither extremely amazing or atrocious bad. I didn't get why the phone could do, you know, what it does, but I guess it's part of the supernatural thing of the movie. The bullying scenes and the climax one were super brutal. My brother and I gagged a lot of times because of it.
Sweetestsecret Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 Blumhouse’s ''The Black Phone'' shows that horror, and original storytelling have a place at the box office. Any apprehension Jason Blum had about the future of the box office has been quelled now that “The Black Phone” has surpassed $150 million at the global box office. ''The Black Phone'' has yet to be released in South Korea and is expected to add another $10 million in global ticket sales when it does in September. https://nyznews.com/blumhouses-the-black-phone-shows-that-horror-and-original-storytelling-have-a-place-at-the-box-office/
Sharapov Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 smash flops like malignant or X could only wish
xrosup Posted August 14, 2022 Posted August 14, 2022 It was a cute suspense movie, i felt it was pretty underwhelming in the horror department
