The fact that because the day 1 update was so late, we’re gonna have the day 2 update in only a few hours, and we’re gonna have to go through this all over again. :gaycat6:

The numbers ARE bad FOR Beyoncé's long awaited comeback, sister. What's not clicking? This is Beyoncé's first lead single since "Formation" and it's not even doing HALF of what Adele's "Easy on Me" did? A random Taylor Swift song that wasn't even a single debuted with only 20% fewer streams?

The expectation was obviously 8-9 or more (there were a huge chunk of user as I showed previously that expected it to do more than 9 million)

The reality is that it did only 20% more than SL, which was considered a flop. If this doesn't have better legs, it'll be a flop as well.

What's not clicking? Seriously asking... :dancehall:

It seems though that you're looking for ways to call this a flop rather than just looking at it for what it is.

And random as that Taylor song may be, let's not pretend that her "Taylor's Version" releases haven't been doing extremely well and that Taylor isn't a huge streaming force in her own right.

Uh, nah, they aren't.  The numbers are good.  I don't need you to tell me that she should be doing Adele's numbers, or Taylor's to have a successful single.  There was NO expectation of 8-9 million, at least not by anyone that I talked to in the base or single thread.  Most of us were hoping for 2-3 million.

I don't care what SL did, matters none to me, not at all.

Dua's DSN debuted with around 4 million, too, it wasn't a flop?

Savage Remix debuted with 2.4 million, it wasn't a flop.

I've been following charts for decades, sis, don't ask me what isn't clicking, ask yourself. I know how this works

LMAAAAO. i cannot with this whole delusion. Like breathe some fresh ******* air. Literally no one in the hive believed it’d do 8-9 Million. Are you insane? Most of us said 3.5-4.5M. Who even are these users in the list,  I spot some monsters.

and now bringing up Taylor and Adele because you can’t hide behind Gaga?

Give it up. This is so embarrassing :bibliahh:

It is a mess, a bottom of the barrel mess.

Ya it's really weird to see people who for years now have only repeated the same Beyoncé-hater rhetoric of "she has no streaming power; no one cares about her; her side projects are flops" etc. now asking why she doesn't have the same streaming numbers of two of the most popular, inoffensive and commercially minded artists out there as if her numbers here aren't great.

That's actually good debut :clap3:

But 5M a lot for that basic bland song :dies:

Come on girl, she didn't release "Formation" or Lemonade on Spotify right away. By the time it was released, it was how old? Three years?

Now you're being purposely deceitful!

No, sweetie. You’re being purposely delusional. Regardless of whenever Lemonade was released on Spotify, THIS single still debuted with over 5 Million streams on Spotify Worldwide and over 5 Million streams in the US alone across ALL platforms, which is STILL her highest debuting streaming numbers of her career. That is a FACT that’s not changing. None of us can predict what her Spotify debut streaming numbers would’ve been if she released Formation or Lemonade properly. That is irrelevant and it’s insane for anyone to try to create hypotheticals in their head to try to downplay this streaming accomplishment of Break My Soul.

not to mention, for all the amount of "she just jumped on a hit with Savage (Remix)" that was said, for this to basically double it's first day amount says a lot...

She isn't flopping though, wtf are y'all on:rip:

These numbers (especially the global ones) are phenomenal when you consider that the song was released on a TUESDAY and didn't have support from the NMF playlist, nor did it have a TTH cover. That one user bringing up Taylor and Adele (women at very different stages in their careers) like they're in any way comparable :rip:

Per yalls own posts and delusions, no one wanted Bey to come back. You guys literally used the Gift and EIL to gauge Beyonces career as "over". By yalls own logic, Beyonce shouldn't even be able to chart, let alone chart top 5 globally on several platforms.

And why are yall so stuck on what Adele and others did with their last release? Where is her album after 6 months? As a lifelong Bey stan, I'm not interested in her having the same trajectory as Adele. Yall might be better off using Taylor at this point. But even then, Bey and Taylor's lanes don't clash.

The song is probably the worst of her career and she managed to pull 5M+ in spite of the lack of quality. She won :jonny5:

thank u!

I didn’t predict it 2 be 10M+, I was just saying it might be taking long, because i was thinking it was because the update was very large since the times I remember it taking long is because of big debuts. I actually was thinking it maybe would land in 6-8M but it also isn’t full day update and if she release a video it could maybe be in that range

i still think this debut is very good and what important is if you like the music. too many people in here trying so hard to be hateful but I think what bey did with this song is very cool. also it matters how the song does long term not necessarily what it’s debut (which, actually 5M to me is very respectable!)

From the mod himself @CovalentBondage.

Now you wanna keep the same narrative or.....?

Are you talking to me? I did want Beyoncé to come back. I've been a fan since the DC days :toofunny3:

Just because I'm very critical of some aspects of her career, it doesn't mean I'm not a fan. In fact, I probably know more about her than most Hives here. I've watched every single performance she's ever done, and listen to every single song, even obscure unreleased songs like Stop Sign and Forever to Bleed. I'm a critical of her because I CARE; because I want her music to be as good as it can be, but I am flabbergasted by her releasing a Chromatica b-side as her big comeback single. I expected much better after a long break.
