Artists that lost their chart appeal when the streaming era started

Who are the artists that were dominating charts with every one of their releases but after the streaming era they lost it because they weren’t appealing to the streaming services?

 

I think Pink was the most damaged, she slayed and outlasted literally every one of our faves with her releases but when she dropped BT she really struggle with the singles but at least she did well with the album due to physicals… it doesn’t help either the huge gap she did with TTAL and BT tho

She literally had the biggest female song  on Spotify in the first year of the streaming era and her streams overall are still amazing. Also that last sentence doesn’t make any sense, have you heard of Playlist payola?

Gaga made one of the worst transitiosn. The streaming took off in 2013/2014 during the ARTPOP era (her biggest underperformance) and the Cheek to Cheek era (a jazz album).

 

She recovered with ASIB and a better streaming strategy post The Cure.

I stan her but the thread is about losing charting appeal and she's kinda lost it due to streaming, otherwise how do you explain the album is struggling to stay top 100 in B200 and is basically out of the top 50 almost everywhere when her previous album was still top 10 back in june 2016 in most of the countries.

Yeah, she’s a weird example considering Easy on Me actually had decent legs on streaming. 30’s problem was that there wasn’t any other viable single choices.

well if her album 30 is consist of 10 EOMs aka as an album 25, which is full of streaming strong ballads: Hello, When We Were Young, Love in the Dark, All I Ask

 

you would know that album will smash in streaming

 

30's problem is not with Adele but with the songs lacking Easy on Me ballads. 

Who would stream an album with 4 songs that are more than 5 minutes long

Adele transitioned marvelously actually : see EOM's first day and overall numbers.

The problem is that people expected 30 to be full of EOM like 25.

i dont think nicki and mariah had very smooth transitions

if you take away aiwfciy then mariahs streaming numbers arent impressive

We literally have songs that became hits due to a 1+ year spam on TTH.

Most of the answers in the thread aren't about artists losing appeal specifically because of streaming. Nicki, Miley, Katy Perry all had streaming hits. Their career just happened to run their course during the streaming era. Losing chart appeal because of streaming is because the artists relied on sales like Pink or Carrie Underwood did.

How is it Katy when the PRISM era happened at the very beggining of the streaming era :rip: I mean she obviously lost chart appeal but it's not related to the transition to streaming since both Roar and specially Dark Horse were the first big female streaming smash hits and both individually were bigger than any OOTB/TD singles chart-wise. PRISM did amazing on YouTube and it was constantly charting between the most streamed albums on spotify back then. Even in 2017 CTTR broke the highest female streams debut on spotify at the time.

 

And yes you can payola streaming services, i.e. Dua Lipa, Tate Mcsomething, etc

She could snatch top 20's and 40's with ease because of the airplay & digital sales. Even if it barely missed the top 40, Radio still easily balanced it out to make it sound like a successful hit.

 

She hasn't even had a solo top 40 hit since 2014:rip:
