Cain Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 Formation felt like a lead to me, it was seen as her 'comeback single' which is generally the lead. Most lead singles are released before any mention of an album anyway
swissman Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 I think what makes Formation also not seem like the proper "lead" for Lemonade (though I do think technically, in hindsight we can consider it such) is that it seemed to moreso promote her tour (The Formation World Tour) than it ever promoted the album and even on the album, when watching the film, it feels far more like a bonus track than part of the album itself as it's tucked at the end, after the story concluded.

Let's stop bickering about some technicality and enjoy this rare (or to you, frequent) occasion

MAKSIM Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 I hope it samples the 2009 masterpiece Break My Heart by Taio Cruz Wherever his one stan is, I hope he is doing well.
Destiny Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 Urban and Rhythmic will eat this up, I’m sure they’ve beeeeen waiting for new Beyoncé solo material
KingB® Posted June 20, 2022 Author Posted June 20, 2022 so what are your guesses? Probably not the Dance song we expected.
ShouldersSideways Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 Quote Announced in a surprise manner last week, Renaissance will form Beyonce's sixth solo studio album, and her first since 2016's Lemonade. Renaissance has already been tagged as 'Act I' of a forthcoming larger project - here's everything we know about the new album here. Why do people call everything she does a surprise? The very nature of an announcement is that its a "surprise." That's why its an announcement

KingB® Posted June 20, 2022 Author Posted June 20, 2022 y'all really need to stfu about the lead single thing. something that isn't purchasable until the album drops isn't a lead single to me. it's a promo track lol

Plus when you release on a Monday or Tuesday you have all the media attention because no one else is dropping
abeille Posted June 20, 2022 Posted June 20, 2022 A lot of tweets saying it's impacting rhythmic, urban and pop radio. Hope it's true.

Impact For real though it’s just become synonymous with her releasing. And it always makes the internet explode so I kinda get why they used that language.
