Ok it’s a Dramatic title, but how would you change the DCEU to be a more competent and beloved cinematic universe. Starting in 2013, they are still in thier Phase 1?With Multiple Major blockbusters, DC fans have been discontent with thier consistency and Output. Critically, they do have several Successful Films that have made the DCEU the 11th biggest film franchise. Yet, fans are still divided.
with The Flash confirmed to Reboot the DCEU next year, What Films or characters can elevate the DC extended Universe?
2022- Peacmaker, DC Super Pets, Black Adam, AquaMan 2

2023- Blue Beetle, Shazam 2, BatGirl, The Flash

TBA- Wonder Woman 3, Zatanna, SuperGirl

If they just repeated the Marvel formula without rushing, everything could have worked.

What they need to do now in my opinion is reboot everything but do it slowly and not rush it again. Use the new Batman movie and his potential trilogy as a foundation point for a new universe. This is what Man of Steel should have been but instead they immediately gave the keys to the kingdom to Zack Snyder even though the movie got mediocre reception and gross.

This could have been done way sooner but I think Wonder Woman and Aquaman turning into such huge hits ruined the plans for that.

Wonder Woman 1 & Shazam are the only DC movies I use. A proper Green lantern reboot would be a nice start for the new DCEU. Technology has advanced a lot since Ryan Reynolds day. Even a proper Teen Titans live action movie sounds more interesting nowadays then another Batman and Superman bore. Maybe they should lay off the A+ hero’s and make Genre films for other Justice league members. Or make Like a Slasher Horror inspired film set in Gotham to introduce the Gotham Knights. A Space Oprea adventure for Green lantern corps. A Romantic comedy for birds of prey or Suicide Squad, a pshycological thriller for Martian man hunter, a heist film for Green Arrow, ect. Like do something interesting and fun. Have Black Adam, Superman & Shazam team up. Don’t have to be as goofy as Marvel, but be creative at least.

It's too late. They should just stick to stand alone films at this point.

This. They couldve even one upped Marvel by giving every JL hero in the 2018 film a solo movie beforehand. Everything from Man of Steel up to JL shouldve been their Phase 1

Phase 1: Keep BvS in the vault for Phase 2, give us Man of Steel, Wonder Woman as is and a Batman solo film like the Pattinson one (to bring critics aboard the train) in 2013-2014.

Give us the Aquaman, Flash and Cyborg solo films as well (Cyborg could even be a tv show tbh) by the end of 2014 up to 2015 leading up to a Suicide Squad IP with a scene where Deadshot gets caught by Batman to hype it up, hopefully directed by Gunn in 2016.

That way they build different audiences and aesthetics and not just the big superhero grainy color palette.

The JL film would've been 10x more well received if every hero in that team had an emotional connection built in beforehand with the audience

Their movies arent even bad

it's just that they are playing the kiddy role like Marvel and they have a Helluva bad luck :rip:

they still had pretty successful movies like Joker,Batman,Aquaman and WW

Just get rid of all the bad apples and hire a Kevin type producer to oversee everything and give DC their own studio division so WB can't intervene. I mean we've seen movie franchises recover after being in the gutter so its not impossible.

Exactly this. The Batman is prime to kickstart a new, fresh DC universe. Matt Reeves can take care of the Batfam corner, but bring in other creatives for the other heroes. Each corner should feel distinct (The Batman's dark atmosphere wouldn't work on Superman). And then, hire a producer to oversee all of it and assure the connectedness and cohesion of the universe.

Yup this would be lovely to see. Just make a distinct style for every hero then bring it together eventually and it can really work.

Nothing - superhero crazy is dwindling, they missed their shot.

Gotta wait a good decade and try to restart fresh - though they can continue to serve some slays with shows like the Harley Quinn animated show and pacemaker type shows but movie and universe wise its wayyyy too late.

Matt Reeves won’t allow it. That was his one condition when signing on to do the movie.

That is what Zslav, the new CEO of WB Discovery, is looking to do. However, things are so complicated because of Ezra Miller’s behavior and actions. The Flash movie was supposed to be a soft relaunch for the DCEU. And some of the movies that are supposed to come out after The Flash like Aquaman 2 and Batgirl can’t be released until The Flash is released due to the connectedness and storyline.

We will have to see what Zslav will do. I know he’s looking for someone like Kevin to oversee the DC studio. But it’s kinda a mess rn because of Ezra Miller… I think Zslav will just opt for a serious reboot down the line. Like just release all of the films currently done and in production. Then reboot after Wonder Woman 3.

Matt Reeves shouldn't dictate what is or isn't in a DC cinematic universe. He can focus on telling Batman/Gotham's story and let other people handle the other characters. It can work. For example, Ryan Coogler handles the Black Panther/Wakanda part of the MCU and that's it. He doesn't meddle with Doctor Strange or anything.

If they do reboot completely, are they just gonna cast another Batman? When there's a great one standing right there? Imagine how tired we are.

Do a soft reboot and introduce new characters on series or movies, and define there a new canon for super heroes that already have movies, like… Superman never dies in this universe, he does defeat Zord and unites with the justice league to defeat steppenwolf

Super Girl movie

Martian man hunter show

Robin show

Batgirl movie

Justice league movie

Conner Kent show

Young Justice movie

Nigthwing movie

after that we can get

Batman & Robin (Wayne) movie

Wonderwoman 3

Superman vs Black Adam

Flash

Aquaman 3

Teen Titans

I love Man of Steel (and I truly believe that it has become quite the classic after a decade). WW was great (grossed almost 1B , and Aquaman was good (+ it grossed over a billion). All they needed was a decent Batfleck flick before BvS (extended version) and it would've worked great.

Phase 1:

1. Man of Steel

2. Wonder Woman

3. Batfleck

4. Aquaman

5. BvS

6. Justice League

Phase 2:

1. MoS 2

2. WW 2 (definitely not the one we got thanks - set in the present day)

3. Batfleck 2

4. Aquaman 2

5. The Flash

6. Green Lantern

7. Cyborg

8. Justice League 2

As for now? Just start from scratch. I mean the flash movie is intended to reboot everything by getting rid of what they don't like (BvS, Batfleck, snyder, Cavill, Cyborg etc) and replacing it (Batgirl, supergirl, Keaton's Batman) while also keeping whatever they feel has a future (WW, Aquaman, Shazam, the flash). And the main actor of that movie won't be returning to the DCEU so they need to find a way to get rid of The Flash. It's just a huge mess, and with Aquaman 2, Shazam 2, Batgirl, Supergirl all debuting soon, and Gadot's WW3 planned, there's no way they can throw everything away in the short run.

But yeah, I would definitely use The Batman to kickstart a new DCEU. Release the remaining films and call it a day.

Well Matt Reeves's Batman movie grossed over $700 M, the highest grossing DC movie since Aquaman. Pretty sure Zaslav will let Matt Reeves continue doing what he want to do.

Focus on one ore two phases of standalone films! Then have event films that aren’t heavily tied to the others.

I didn't say Zaslav would interfere with what Reeves is doing, on the contrary. Let him continue what he started. However that doesn't mean they can't use Pattinson as the Batman of a potential new DC trinity.

Man of steal grossed just about the same! I think DC needs to lower their expectations! They are not a 1 billion dollar universe yet! Make the films lower budget!

Start their franchise with villain origins story, that would introduce their main hero.
