Plus Davina is much much more experienced presenting live shows, is a fan of Eurovision and is a native French speaker. Mel's French is not great.

Australia would not host, the ebu already set this straight when they invited australia. The EBU would probably let the countries (most likely the big 5, sweden and something like the netherlands) bid a hosting gig in case of an australian win.
