Keeandga Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Inspired by this video https://youtu.be/sNez-9_0rco Why can’t Diddy keep an artist and build them to fulfil there full potential? Danity Kane Mase Dream 112 Day 26 The Lox Cassie & so on. Is he just bored with them, is he’s just full of bitchassness? I can’t believe a word this man spews, especially that Grammy speech.
rihannabiggestfan Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 He can't even keep a name, so. He should stick to other ventures

trainsskyscrapers Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 One of the best A&Rs in the biz became his own boss and lost himself tbh. On the other hand, last time I checked.... both Janelle Monae & MGK (two of the biggest chameleons in modern music) have been Bad Boy artists from their first projects.
99sandthe2000s Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 who knows? but you can't say they didn't get a hit working with him tho
professor2000 Posted June 16, 2022 Posted June 16, 2022 Because…that’s how the industry is. He’s an easy target though, b/c he’s a celeb/artist himself. But the complaints ppl have on Bad Boy, are the same complaints other artists have with their labels.

He seems to just no care after a while. 3 minutes ago, professor2000 said: Because…that’s how the industry is. He’s an easy target though, b/c he’s a celeb/artist himself. That’s true, him showing the inner workings via MTB exposed the industry at large, but he’s more of a target bc we have footage, a face and a name (same in a way with Tyra but they are both still horrible people from the sounds of it).
DanceAgain Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 Not sure why these didn't take off, this song was a massive bop

Melissa left, Kacey joined Krazy flopped and wasn’t promoted well plus the image change and the second album kept getting pushed back and until they were dropped. Edited June 17, 2022 by Keeandga
BreakinTheIce Posted June 17, 2022 Posted June 17, 2022 you forgot Diddy-Dirty Money too. He even gave Dawn Richard another chance and then she flopped again after that

Eh, most of these examples aren't that great. Mase left music at basically the height of his popularity to become a pastor (and then came back and left again, and so on). The demises of Day 26 and Danity Kane were televised, and even in the latter's case, he made Dawn part of Dirty Money. As for The Lox, what greater potential could/can they have? They are considered legends in hip hop and their legacy has been cemented, as seen in their Verzuz. Even so, they wanted to leave Bad Boy, and Diddy was not only okay with that, but encouraged them to make their departure from the label controversial. This thread explains some of the history behind their relationship: I'm not saying Diddy hasn't mishandled a bunch of artists, but there's context to each of these situations, and honestly, it's not much different than the loads of artists found by other A&Rs who we see come and go regularly. ETA: I don't even really like Diddy, but this thread got me thinking about how he's had a hand in some of the most influential artists ever. Notorious BIG, Lil' Kim, Mary J. Blige, Usher, not to mention the slew of artists and producers he signed that helped shape the sound of the 90s and early 2000s. Edited June 17, 2022 by WinterRun
