I watched this at one of the limited screenings and, yeah. It was not it. Ana is very good and so is most of the cinematography, but the script is unbearable.

17 minutes before it's being released to Netflix :duca:

Disgusting film. Poor Marilyn, exploited even after her death. Also the sexist director. My Week With Marilyn at least was tasteful.

what a disaster :rip:

Ana gave the best performance I've seen so far this year.

Too bad she won't get nominated for Oscar :toofunny3:

Welp, 3 hours of my life I cannot get back. Absolutely disgusting.

Actually this picked up quite a bit. I totally do internal monologs when 'servicing' too so that felt relatable

i was actually enjoying it until halfway though - the childhood story and her mom was compelling and her rise and its bumps were interesting to see. but then it became a repetitive, exploitative mess that kept hammering the same 3 or so plot points for what seems to me shock value. there's really no development or depth to marilyn in this depiction other than tortured starlet with daddy issues. the JFK scene was actually repulsive and it's really ironic that you could tell they thought they were really saying something re: rape/misogyny :skull: just gross movie all around. ana devoured though.

I couldn't stick it out and turned it off half way through...

What I saw, wasn't terrible (beautifully shot, and Ana's acting was A+) but I was so BORED... it didn't really seem to go anywhere beyond highly repetitive trauma porn.

The movie was just good, but my expectations were too high. Didn't feel 3 hours long so that's a great thing. Ana KILLED it though. I've been a fan for like 14 years & I'm so so proud of how far she's come.

I'm so glad this trash is getting dragged in social media.

This is horrible :rip: I can’t bring myself to finish this

Good acting, horrible plot. Sin sentido, parece que simplemente metieron una secuencia de escenas aleatorias y las juntaron de mala manera.

This ***** had threesomes with hunky twins?

All this panning had made me curious to watch it

I like Ana, but everything I've heard from other people, the horrid things the director has said about Marilyn and the fact that it's being referred to as "trauma porn"... nope. Not watching.

I was thinking about seeing this with my grandparents but well… after reading all of the lashings here and on Twitter is clear that I don’t want to see this with them let alone by myself. The anti-abortion propaganda and the trauma porn allegations are just enough to not wanting to watch it

This was .... a choice :ryan2:

I was excited because I love Ana de Armas but wtf.

Jail for the director and jail for Ana for choosing a movie that could ruin her promising career. I hope she'll bounce back, everyone else involved can retire.

I don't think this is ruining her career at all, instead it's going to make her even more of a Hollywood star. Every single review, even the ones panning the film, praises her.

I wonder if they can release a better cut? With a better score and edit, maybe combine some scenes into a fast montage.

The last half feels repetitive, so many abortions, pills, basically portrayed her as crazy which is the first role she auditioned for.

I liked the circle analogies but it didn’t hit as much. The daddy letters weren’t really explained were they?

Anas acting was incredible. She should get a nomination even though the movie was ehhh.
