That said, while I've been SO loud about the NEED for her do collabs (to improve her streaming footprint), I'm loving eating humble pie with the way Renaissance songs like BMS, Alien Superstar, and Cuff It are performing. All solo and all smashing. I don't think it was a given that she would smash, but whatever the case or reason, it's beautiful to see her do it solo. So, in a way I want to savor this moment. Because it's not lost on me that it won't last forever. The industry remains deeply ageist and demonstrate questionable practices when it comes to Black artists on Pop formats. So, in short, I'd almost want her to ride this wave solo and revert to the "quick lil collabs" after this era to further cement her streaming presence. But I'd GAGG at a collab/remix project as part of this era. Maybe towards the middle-end to give a whole new life to the songs.
genio Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 This album is so immaculate, I still can't get over the marvelous quality. It's been such a long time anyone delivered such a strong body of work.

Haus Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 The only album to hit since Renaissance is Ultraviolence, I love high art
giRLbye. Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 i dont doubt that Beyonce has enough music for 3 albums...this is someone who is used to recording 70-80 songs per recording session. albums like B'Day & Destiny Fulfilled were recorded in 2-3 weeks & both are beloved projects. technology has made it that you can record anywhere & we know she's recorded inside her bedroom and other unconventional places. plus with the shut down...it's not like she had other major commitments preventing it...so of course she was in the house recording. probably still in the studio putting everything together even now.

I believe this and her putting out a remix she likely made over the past week shows she’s still in the studio (all speculation ofc)
Material Girl Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 i really love the idea of a trilogy of dance/country/rock albums reclaiming the black history behind each genre

That’s exactly what I want! Dance was the perfect way to get the GP on board Country is the perfect way to shake the room Rock is the perfect way to celebrate, make anthems and get the male audience
giRLbye. Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 (edited) i'll be honest -- my main concern is that idk how a full rock/country album is going to be made palatable to her audience. lets be for real...Renaissance is not the house album that the media, GP, & the Hive were speculating about. it works b/c songs like Cuff It, POTS, Virgo's Groove, Heated, AHAP are on there...these sounds made the album acceptable while still being experimental. An album full of just "All Up In Your Mind" or even "Alien Superstar" would've been received much more differently. I didn't have concerns b/c I knew she could make house work by adding some funk & disco to it which she did. DHY is one of my Top 5 Bey songs ever & while "Daddy Lessons" is cute...it's pretty much a skip unless I'm in the mood to hear the Dixie Chicks remix which i like better. These work as moments but idk how she is going to make that translate to her core audience and although we know these are historically black genres....the current rock/country industry were not welcoming and created drama during Lemonade era. Aren't you answering your own question here? She would probably make those work by doing the same thing as what you described her doing with Ren'.. Diving head first into country and rock while still mixing it up with her trademark styles PS: I STILL don't believe we're getting two more albums btw

And the era could even be bigger with visuals, more promo etc, that is the most incredible thing about it. But she really said "let the MUSIC speak" !!! They're always saying Bey NEEDS visuals for her projects to sale and garner attention and I'm sorry but that simply isn't the case and Renaissance has more than proved that. Her visuals are like a bonus addition to an already quality body of work that aid in ELEVATING it even more. It's not her fault her visuals are just as artistically groundbreaking, cinematic and visually stunning as something you'd see on the silver screen. There are plenty of current artists out there that I can think of that heavily rely on visuals because the music is pretty mediocre to subpar and cannot stand on its own and require that extra push. Beyoncé isn't and has never been one of them. Her music alone speaks for itself, the visuals that come later only add to it. Edited August 7, 2022 by est. in 90s
Feanor Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 I think this is now my 2nd favorite Beyoncé album. It has the potential to become #1 overall, but I still feel confident rn in saying that Lemonade >> RENAISSANCE. Although to be fair, Lemonade had multiple live performances, the tour and a whole movie to elevate it even further, so if RENAISSANCE gets all these too, it may rise to the top...
Ibrahim Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 I've been streaming the album since I first started listening to it but I finally decided to buy it last night and I find it funny how the version on her website has Heated edited but Energy isn't. Definitive version confirmed. I do like the version with Kelis on it. I didn't even hear it at first but once it clicked, it feels like such an integral part of the background that's designed to be more subconscious soundscape and side-by-side, it feels a little emptier without it. It's the first vinyl I've ever bought (I bought the cd, digital, and vinyl) because I know this is going to sound amazing on a proper sound system.
est. in 90s Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 Also, Beyoncé is in fact insane enough to put out full length three-act projects full of new music + visuals. It's not that hard to believe. She wasn't seen or heard for a good while outside of Black Is King and Be Alive promo and even that was sparse. Babygirl was out here WORKING. Probably started on this in 2018/2019. In the words of thee almighty hot girl "just know a bi*ch been working when I been too silent." Either way, she created something so magnificent in one of the darkest times in history. It's crazy to think something so beautiful and happy could be created during such an ugly time period. But hey, some of the best art out there was created during the darkest times in a person's life and in history. It's not uncommon at all. Just happy I exist during the same timeline as Renaissance
Bey'Knight Posted August 7, 2022 Posted August 7, 2022 8 hours ago, Cbreezy said: Right. I really do "get" both sides of the more music vs keep it to Ren debate. The drought has been real, so I will always (always) want more. It'll help with her streaming too. On the other side, it's less a case of quality control (Bey always delivers), it's more the reality that this album really deserves its moment. A full moment. Visuals specific to Ren. Multiple singles from Ren. Public propelling certain songs to career definers...again from Ren. More music within even 6months kinda of reduces the chances of that given the need to then push that material and possibly more material after that. Also not sure what a tour looks like in that regard either. At the same time, I'd love for them to find a way to do it all. Bey's career (especially in the last decade) has been about being bold, groundbreaking, and shaking the table. I'd much rather she continued to go BIG rather than essentially do what she's BEEN doing (e.g. album + visuals + tour). I don’t understand this argument. Did folklore lose its acclaim because evermore was released than 6 months after? We are know subsequent acts or not, Bey’s not going to do any promo to elongate the lifespan of this album. We have one/two post-album singles, visuals and maybe one award show performance to look fwd to. If anything a late Q4 release will return attention to Ren by proxy. She had way more time than usual to work on music during the pandemic and y’all would rather it stayed locked up? She’s a master curator so it’s not like we are getting Ren leftovers. I’m here for them.
