Im convinced it requires a certain amount of intellect to fully appreciate it Those melismatic runs, the way she ascends and descends in her falsetto, the glissando she uses... Whitney would be so impressed and proud Edited August 4, 2022 by *-ChriZ-*
Automatic Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 I loved POTS from first listen. I love the musical direction of this album and wouldn't change a thing but R&B Beyoncé will always be superior I fear
ultraviolence.xx Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 im afraid plastic off the sofa has had me by the wig ever since release and nearly all the glue has detached from my scalp but im hanging on by an inch
popularmoonlight Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 Heated production is so intrinsic and clever. Her own chopped up vocals used throughout the song, she's brilliant. She's a genius.

FLAallday Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 I’d like to discuss the fact that America Has A Problem has experienced the highest level of virality, only second to Alien Superstar

Ibrahim Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 (edited) I am not committed to ranking the tracks yet I'm That Girl has grown on me because it's essentially the album intro - I don't see it as a song but an announcement before the big reveal. Must be my 15th full-album listen. One thing I will say is that she could have phoned it in because the base of these tracks are already fire but I don't know if anyone realizes how damn hard it is to keep that energy. She could have just repeated these tracks from the intro to finish and into the next song, but every song has a switch up and not only adds a new vibe but adds texture and emotional value. And she's blended almost all the tracks with the intro and outros. On top of that, switching it up and not just maintaining the vibe, but enhancing it is a huge risk in losing the original intention of the song. And she's done it for the entire album. And she does it with the tempo, the instrumentation, vocal textures, and the crazzzzzzy wide variety of harmonies and lead vocals she stacks on top of everything. Lyrically, I know people are looking over it as secondary but I don't think it is. It's appropriate to the music. If you're a verbose songwriter, there's a tendency to overwrite for a track where it just takes you out of the music because it's far too unnatural for the vibe. Plus, lines like "Assss gettin bigger" is absolutely perfect and doesn't need to be anything else. It's perfect. She adds tidbits of politics here or there: Just vibe Votin' out forty-five Don't get outta line (yeah) Ooh, ooh, ooh, ooh Pick a side Only double lines we cross is dollar signs (yeah) Edited August 4, 2022 by Ibrahim
Rotunda Posted August 4, 2022 Posted August 4, 2022 Virgo’s Groove is the All Night of the album - the song everyone but me loves

I’ve definitely noticed that even the weaker tracks have a switch up somewhere or something we haven’t heard her do before that makes them enjoyable Thique should be very grateful for 2:05 - 2:21
