why are people so desperate to find something to be mad about

I agree with Cardi - if you're offended, just don't listen to the song

while she's right that Lizzo should have just told the haters to suck her d/ck cardio was very much in the wrong for using the r-word. she should just hold her tongue and not talk about it instead of making it worse

No one cared when Cardi said the R word in No Limit, and even back then that would’ve been controversial. Lizzo shouldn’t have gave in to the twitter folks.

Lol spare us please, the way people stay trying to find something to cancel people for, at this point it's pointless really.

People are so bad when it comes to critical thinking. Although colourism is real, it has nothing to do with this. Rappers will never be held to the same standard as Pop artists like Lizzo when it comes to offensive language.

The amount of mental gymnastics people have been jumping through to use race as shield for very basic/fair criticism is wild. This is how I know so many people would turn into the oppressor if they were born with the priviledge. There's no misogynoir in Lizzo being called out. In this day and age, anyone getting top placement on new music friday with lyrics which can be mistaken for slurs are going to be called out.

Then on the opposite end of the spectrum artists like Janelle Monae and Brandy have made throw away lyrics treating mental illness conditions as verbs without anyone battering an eyelid because they're not popular and don't get the exposure (+older era of social media)

People have the dumbest takes, cardi gets dragged like every other week

I dont see how that is a free pass

Cardi stays getting dragged. Hell, she was she getting dragged when she said the r-word on her “shake it verse”. There was discourse about it; not as much as Lizzo, but there was discourse. :rip:

Also, why is this conversation still happening? Lizzo apologized and changed the lyric. Also, Lizzo didn’t know the word was a slur (many people didn’t). Let’s move on.
