Angelina already had won a SAG and a Golden Globe and had Emmy nominations for doling TV movies before she got her Oscar winning role in Legend, Interrupted which lead to her getting the Tomb Raider franchise. and even before that she had been working since the early 90's doing music videos and B-movies.

 

meanwhile Ellen DeGeneres' best friend already had leading roles in back-to-back cancelled sitcoms

He undoubtly opened more days for Angelina than Jen’s Dad who couldn’t even open doors for himself lmfao

The new generation honestly have zero knowledge of actors and talented people. They literally look up to those Tiktokers and youtubers it's insane. Nothing to control or shift but it's just a little sad tbh. And this eventually does bring actors to the same level.

While I do think the public can tend to make talentless or just bad people famous and keep them famous through these means more easily( like many have stated it is awesome genuinely talented people can be discovered easier without stupid connections and elitism and such. I do think fame has been diluted a bit with so many “famous” people nowadays sadly. But having what we used to have as the primary power is a part of why people like Harvey Weinstein happened. Fame should not be decided by one or a small group of old white men
