Céline Dion and Whitney Houston really are queens at turning other artists' songs their own through their showstopping vocals and passionate delivery. I utterly adore every single reinterpretation of theirs and consider their versions the definitive ones (though George Benson's "The Greatest Love Of All" and Dolly Parton's "I Will Always Love You" are beautiful in their own right).

As much as I love Mariah, I'll have to disagree with the general consensus regarding her covers. "Against All Odds (Take A Look At Me Now)", "Didn't Mean To Turn You On", and "The Beautiful Ones" are genuinely fantastic and as great as the originals, while "Open Arms" and "I Still Believe" are pretty good, but her versions of "I Want To Know What Love Is" and "One More Try" are rather underwhelming in my view, and I never liked "Without You" as a song - it's such a subpar and basic composition and beneath what Mariah usually writes, and I feel Harry Nilsson sold it better.
