FAVORITE CRIME

Average score: 6.10

High score: 10 (@supaspaz, @Ace Reject, @BnPac)

Low score: (@creativity.)

As Sour comes to a close, Olivia Rodrigo is searching for forgiveness – not just for the boy who caused her pain, but also for putting herself in the position to be hurt. On this quiet stunner, she is alluringly wounded and wise beyond her years as she unfurls an extended metaphor wherein she acknowledges that she was an accomplice to their failed relationship (“One heart broke, four hands bloody”). It’s a phenomenal piece of pop balladry and should have been the album’s fourth single. What you all did to “Favorite Crime” is perhaps my least favorite crime of this rate.

Best bit: Olivia can barely contain herself on the bridge, racing to get her words out in double time. The accompaniment briefly drops out, then comes roaring back for a final chorus featuring some piercing layered vocals.

ATRL says...: “This is really good,” BnPac allowed. Indeed.

SIT

Average score: 6.18

High score: 10 (@ultraviolence.xx, @Taemira)

Low score: (@Insanity)

Japanese Breakfast grapples with forbidden desires (and offers of oral sex) on this synthy cut from Jubilee which Michelle Zauner has described as reflecting a Heaven-and-Hell dynamic: dark, industrial verses break into an angelic chorus, with its keyboard line inspired by Tears For Fears.

Best bit: “Hear my name in your mouth and I'm done for”

ATRL says...: “Good stuff, but not memorable,” @madonnas said.

I’ll accept the JB elims even though though both better than posing for cars.

so sorry for your loss of favorite crime, Supa!  It’s not a loss for me but I feel for you!

That Billie song I could live without.

I just know Slide Tackle will be out too early and I will have a meltdown

So far I agree with the results so far, maybe posing for cars should have been the first song on Jubilee to be out :squirrel:

Hopefully 3 songs from HTE leave soon

Posing for Cars is trascendental, let me prepare my meltdown post because at this pace it's seemingly missing top 40 altogether.

30 needs to start bleeding!

Glad to see Olivia being tanked as most of that album deserves, hope ur ok could have stayed a bit longer though.

"Sit" made me stop on my tracks when it started playing, but as it kept playing it bummed me that it was going nowhere. Still a cool driving-in-the-moonlight song.

I think about "Ari's Tale" and "Donna's Tale" everyday.

Mostly okay with all of these eliminations. No surprise most of them are interludes so far. Heaux Tales fares better if rated as a whole and not track by track I guess.

Sad so many can't see the beauty of Halley's Comet though... one of her absolute best tracks, such a wonderful vocal performance. The way the outro sounds and functions reminds me so much of the outro in Lykke Li's I Know Places. Instant highlight for me on first listen and still to this day. At least @Quicksand came through with the taste and gave it a 10 as well, taste and talent
