Hope that is simple enough for you At this point you are either trolling or just plain stupid. It's been explained 1,000 times to you that the show in question was a family friendly event, meaning that the performers refrained from anything sexual or adult humour in general. You have provided 0 receipts so far that anything inappropriate took place, other than the video that was from a completely different event and your bigoted and ignorant opinion that 'dRaG sHoWs ArE fOr AdULtS!!!11', for which you have provided no real argument as to why. It's literally no different from clown shows, it's literally just people in colourful outfits and makeup, the only reason why you are against it is because you bought into the conservative propaganda about what drag is and its purpose. Literally most pop girls people stan on this website are more scantily dressed and sexual at their shows than drag performers at family events, including the one in your avi, so you are really trying it. Have you ever even seen a drag show? Or do you know any drag performers personally? Edited June 7, 2022 by John Slayne

I'm NOT comparing it, Robin Williams literally did do drag for that movie. Just because you have some reductive idea in your head about what drag is and isn't doesn't mean it's true. Educate yourself and stop parroting Christian fascist talking points, it's not a good look, especially for someone who's gay themselves. They are literally laughing at people like you because they managed to brainwash you like one of their own. Quote me again when you have an actual argument why kids shouldn't go to drag shows, saying 'kids shouldn't be there' over and over again without giving a reason why is not an argument.

We saw the videos in the other thread. Queer people who attended that event were even weirded out. They became uncomfortable during the event and it wasn’t because of the protesters. Basically everyone outside of the few of you on ATRL can see that this event was not appropriate but apparently you keep saying “family friendly” when everyone else can see that it was not.
John Slayne Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 I'm sorry but someone with this person in their avi trying to be the gatekeeper of what is and isn't family friendly only on ATRL

Buddy Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Trust Texas to deflect while their children are being massacred. In general, however, I'm ok with this. Even if said all-age drag shows are PG-rated, which many have been not, they're just not worth the optics. Why some people insist on children interacting with drag queens is beyond me. It's not a worthy hill to die on by any means.

This, like yeah we may have to fear for our children's lives every time we send them to school, but at least they'll be legally barred from attending drag shows Unbelievable.

It’s like parents have different comfort levels for their children.

slik Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 Cannot agree enough with all the posters hitting the point over the head, again and again "Just because you agree with them they won't think you are one of the good ones. They don't think ANY lgbtq+ are good."
slik Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 "I don't go to drag shows so I'm ok with them banning them" "I don't remember my teachers growing up having a spouse of the same sex so I'm ok with banning teachers for sharing it" "I don't read any books with gay characters so I'm ok with banning them" Trust me, it might not be you today, but it will one day be you soon. The goal is eliminate everything LGBTQ.
ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted June 7, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted June 7, 2022 It's so frustrating as a Texan seeing this because of what just happened in Uvalde. there obviously needs to be some gun reform prioritized. BUT if the GOP here doesn't think that's the answer, then we need mental health reform passed to keep our kids mentally healthy, BUT if the GOP here doesn't even think that's the answer then we need funding to schools to help with security, I live in a rural-ish part of the state and know some schools don't have enough funding to keep everything secure Obviously gun control is what's actually needed, but the GOP has paraded around other issues regarding the latest terrorist attack and they can't even get something about those points done before they attack an all ages drag show during pride month? -- A lot of non-drag supporters will find drag sexualized without even knowing what goes on at the show. But drag queens have always been involved with youth, from library readings to yearly pride performances. Robin Williams even won a kids choice award for playing Mrs. Doubtfire in the 90s. Some current drag queens are fantastic for kids too, such as queens like Nina West who has a good Disney gig now. People who say the LGBT are just full of sexual deviants and how drag should be banned from kids are just repeating homophobic right wing talking points and not actually looking at what happens during these children's drag shows.

Your fave is spreading their legs for children, what's that about?

Eric. Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 I hope I never step foot on that hellhole of a State or any of the other hateful States, if possible. Hope Texas gets it together before the end of the decade cause it's on a steep decline socially-speaking. Also, where are the "no kink at pride! " crusaders from last year who kept dragging kink through the mud. Here you have a family friendly pride event and all the venue and the performers got was more harassment and vilification because the bigots will never give an inch! 15 hours ago, Communion said: This person literally walked back their tweets and blocked right-wingers using them to push their point and clarified that their discomfort over drag shows in general doesn't mean they're grooming events. Gui Blackout Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 I just think we as a community need to be smarter about stuff like this. I'm not against these drag shows for kids per say, but if you're making them then it *really* needs to be a kid-friendly show. Please let's have some common sense and not give these weirdos any ammunition against us (not that it will stop them, but still)
