It wasn't what I expected but I really liked it. I saw it on a date and we did movie first, then dinner. Going to dinner right after this was.... interesting :coffee2:

Just watched this, it was such a ride!! Had me on the edge of my seat most of the time

Why did the chef had to humillate Tyler that way tho?? He was mad about people not knowing the names of his dishes or giving bad reviews about his food, but the only guy who actually really appreciated it and praised it was the one "undeserving" of the meal, it just didn't make much sense for me :psyduck: also Nicholas Hoult looked so hot so I didn't want him to die :jonny5:

It's sort of a critique on how he is all in on everything, knowing every little detail to the point of willing to humiliate himself and knowingly die to experience a chef's cuisine and YET he can't be bothered to actually learn the craft. Not even semi-decently.

Mmmm, the movie shouldn't fall under the "horror" tag tbh... it's more of a thriller. There are definitely comedic bits in it, so "comedy" fits it fine.

I give it a 6/10, because again... we have a movie that builds up to pretty much nothing in the end. Idk how to insert hidden spoilers so just highlight over this part:

I felt like for all of the characters in the restaurant.... their punishment did not fit their crimes. What they did was in no way deserving of death. I left confused about this movie wanting to take itself seriously or not lol.

I kind of felt like the fact that not all of them were necessarily deserving of death was part of the whole thing too. Like the movie is both a satire of the rich and the ways they can be cruel to service workers and a critique of how an "eat the rich" mentality is oversimplified. Not saying it was wholly successful in conveying all of its messages, but that is what I took from it at least.

Definitely more of a psychological thriller, like if you think about it really we're watching a man who had a mental break run a late-stage cult through its final ritual

Midsommar felt like a nonsensical gore-fest for me... the Menu at least got me on the edge of my seat. To each it's own, I guess.

I love it, even though the guests all seem too passive :rip:

hmm this was good but i dont think it was great. it lacked something...

WHY was he doing this, how did he find all the staff and why tf would they agree to do this?? how did he convince nicholas hoult character, we know he had some beef with the food critic and he hated the actor, but why did he target the old couple or the 3 players? they didnt have anything to do with him. the mom being there drunk

:rip:

ATJ was amazing tho

This was SO fun

I hope it blows up once it hits streaming because it's a shame it didn't make any sparks at the box office

It reminded me of Glass Onion in a way, there's some uncanny similarities with the whole ensemble cast of spoiled rich brat stuck on a island.

This was kinda... empty.

It was a cute and entertaining watch but I can understand the critiques it got.

Oh this was stunning :jonny5: In my top releases of this year for sure. Sad that it's not getting the praise it deserves

This was good but not spectacular. :coffee2: I guess there are some metaphors I didn't get but yes, this was kinda underwhelming.

Spoiler

I'm glad queen ATJ survived to all the mess, but I guess I lost some detail of why she figured out how to get out of this cult-ish thing.

Why they didn’t release this in my country? Smh
