NTMT scored a 79 in 2013, years before poptimism, Halsey would be scoring 40s and 50s  :dies:

ICHLIWP is a pop album?:dies: let's stick to what actually happened and not to what would've happened just because it fits your narrative better

You think it's not a pop record? :bibliahh:

Please tell me what genre you think it is

She signed her record deal when she was a teenager (16/17 years old) and they wanted her to become the next Britney or Katy.  They refused to fund her studio time for NTMT and Ghost EP, so she had to pay for everything herself.  She continued working as a model and actress to fund studio time for her yet to be released album, imagery, MVs, etc.  Yes, she is definitely at fault for the lack of releases, but not having label support or funding to make music is clearly a major roadblock, especially when the label hates her for being a bad investment (not following along with the pop girl mold they wanted for her).

:clap3:This.

I wonder why Capitol don't just drop her?  Why have someone on your label who hasn't made you any money for 10 years., and who you refuse to invest in or promote.

why are people thinking shes going for halsey here? people really only read the title and go

Well someone had to keep them employed since miss Ferreira has been DOA since 2014.

Stupid ass comment considering they have successful careers working with artists like Taylor Swift and the Weeknd :rip:. They work with Sky because they love her, not because they need her money.

but you can tell that there was hype and had support from the label for the follow up material after the critical success of NTMT. She got herself in label limbo again by failing to release anything

Hype and support?  Do you think her Metacritic scores paid for her record deal or for all of the scrapped pop music they forced her to record?  No.  Are they paying for her studio sessions?  No.  Are they paying for her producers?  No.  Directors?  No.  Are they even paying for interns to make promotional material to post on social media?  No.  Capitol has been dragging Sky through mud for the greater half of a decade because she is a financial loss and they are going to keep her until she fulfills whatever amount of albums she signed to make with them when she was 14 years old.

Yes, Sky is at fault here too as she does take way too long to finish music, but the main reason is lack of label support and funding.  I know you probably can't relate because your fave is still getting checks from the Chainsmokers collab and her hits, and has a fanbase to yell at Capitol to actually do their job.  It's fitting the *moment* Halsey wanted to make something more artistic, Capitol forced her to pay for it herself.  Capitol doesn't like her new single?  They have Max Martin rework it to sound more palatable for radio.  Sky hasn't even had a single era with label support because she isn't willing to do something like that or compromise on her sound.  Not dragging Halsey at all btw, but you can't seriously tell me what Sky's been going through isn't f**ked up.

And people call Halsey the insufferable one :rip:

You’re lazy af and scrap literally almost every project that you work on :deadbanana2: not to mention the MID song you just released that sounded like a reject from your last project that was almost a decade ago got ripped to shreds. I get the yasss kweeen drag baldsey xD gays in your mentions been hyping your head up but you literally have nothing to be upset over and you just sound like an insufferable brat :deadbanana2: anything for promo i GUESS

Kinda this. I HIGHLY doubt it's all Capitol's fault as to why she hasn't released or had a career in ten years.

At this point I hope she just leaves Capitol and releases independently for a while.

Didn't Kesha, someone who made her label a lot of money, try and fail to get out of her contract with Luke and her label?  These are some quotes from her interview with Vulture

Quote

You’re taken advantage of from a very early age. I signed contracts that I will probably be in for, honestly, who ******* knows, because I’ve only released one album. Of course I didn’t know how to read contracts when I was 14 years old, and neither did my parents, because they’re not entertainment lawyers. A lot of people feel ownership over you because you signed a piece of paper. And these contracts, the rules don’t apply to them, apparently. It’s like being an ant against, I don’t know, Godzilla.

Quote

When it’s all you’ve ever known, the degrees of it each time [are], Well, it’s not as bad as the last time. But that shouldn’t be the mark for something. I just want some control over my music and my career

Quote

I’ve been editing this video, which, unfortunately, does not feature fire. “I couldn’t afford that,” Ferreira jokes., and I had to do the artwork myself. There were some photos that could have been used that just didn’t seem right.  I’m not a graphic designer, but I was like, Someone has to do it.

Quote

I’m probably expected to do all the work, but I don’t really care anymore. It took me a long time to get back here, but I’m back. I’m not gonna back down that easily.

It's hard to believe that Sky's current situation isn't at least a little bit her own fault

It’s never their fault with these minimally talented rich kid nepotism babies.

Anyway this whole thing was clearly a publicity stunt orchestrated by Capitol and Halsey to drum up hype for her rapidly declining career, and now Sky is trying to latch onto it to drum up hype for her own comatose career.

Does capitol even have a current superstar, right now?

I feel like they don't have a single successful act, right now. And they are trying very hard to make some of them stick

Kesha is signed to Luke directly and then Luke has a separate contract with RCA on behalf of Kesha.

That is why RCA/Sony can't just "drop" Kesha (even if it's what she wants, which she did ask for in 2016) because Dr. Luke is the intermediary between Kesha and RCA, so they would have to get into a fight with Luke if they wanted to do that.

Dr. Luke refuses to dissolve the contract Kesha has with him directly so that he can keep controlling her and Kesha tried to dissolve the contract she has with Dr. Luke directly in court multiple times, but failed.

Off-topic, but Kesha only owes Luke/Kemosabe one more album, right?

Yes! One more album until the production contract with KMI is over and she can sign with a new label theoretically.

The Prescription Songs contract she was with Luke for publishing does not have a specified commitment, but it states that it is coterminous with the KMI contract, so they should both be over at the same time.
