Mattyboy Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 (edited) I’m a server myself, and I get customers from all over the world. I don’t have many bad experiences and many of my tables leave me at least 15% of the total check, with the standard being 18-20% in America. I’m not sure how other counties work, but when I ask my tables they say it’s not as common How much do you tip your server if you have a good experience? A bad experience? Just was wondering. As a fellow server myself, when I go out to eat.. Which isn’t often anymore, I at least try and leave 20% now that I know the struggle Edited May 30, 2022 by Mattyboy
ccfan007 Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 If it is one of those "fast food"ish type of places and they have you fill out a tip on their tablet, usually the lowest percentage offered. If it's a sit down restaurant, always 20% no matter the experience.
KillingYourCareer Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 I don't tip, there's no tipping culture here in Italy
Selegend Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Brazil: In my state we tip 10% but in São Paulo it's 13% there's no more than 13% here. there's some states where in fact people don't tip at all, there's no such culture, but most of brazil do the 10% tip.
CaptainMusic Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 I very rarely tip, it’s not my job to pay somebody’s wages And if there’s a service charge attached, I’ll ask them to remove it if the waiter was rude
Likingstars Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 I find tipping culture weird. Employer should be able to pay their employee a liveable wage and they should not be living tip money. It's just sad to think about how the system fails people

DoubleRainbow! Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 In Mexico I have to leave 10% even if it's a wings, burgers or sushi kinda place
ontherocks Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 In Germany we tip. I was out eating with my best friend in Friday and my bill was 59€, I gave 70€.
schnetzka Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 I leave at least $5 for tip but would pay more if the bill was expensive enough to call for more.
Jaye Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 18% (aka minimum respectable tip) if its bad service just because I'm not an ******* but 20% + on average because I'm a generous tipper.
WhateverYouWant Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 (edited) 20% at least, even if its not the best service. If you can’t tip your sever stay home. From my understanding servers in the US get paid less and rely in on their tips way more. Edited May 30, 2022 by WhateverYouWant
Robert Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 (edited) I hardly tip and the US tipping culture is extremely weird to everyone else although I understand the servers are paid less than minimum wage so I would tip if I visited there. Edited May 30, 2022 by Robert
wastedpotential Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 (edited) It depends. At a nice dinner, maybe 5-10%. Other than that, there's really not much of a tipping culture here in the Netherlands (besides Uber Eats). When I'm back home in the US, always 20% but sometimes higher. It just depends on the type of restaurant and the quality of service Edited May 30, 2022 by wastedpotential

Lots of things can play into the equation, I just try my best to be kind to these servers as I know they experience assholes all day long.

Kingpin Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 We don’t have tipping in my country, I mean you can if you want but it’s never expected like it is in the US. Workers are paid a fair wage etc
