Pink Ranger Posted May 29, 2022 Posted May 29, 2022 Given this place was used a “tourist attraction” to promote visiting the country prior to Stranger Things using it maybe people should be looking more into why it was a tourist attraction in the first place and not torn down years ago. I personally don’t go visiting countries to see places where hundreds of people were tortured but each to their own. since 2019 it’s been converted to a art centre/bar/concert & festival venue according to comments on the post.

Basically this. If it was already a tourist attraction why create drama out of nowhere? Seems like someone is just looking for attention. I must say that it is a sensitive topic, I personally am here for turning this places with a horrible history into something positive while paying respect. But I would understand why some people descendant from the victims would feel uncomfortable too. Edited May 30, 2022 by Trent W

I visited the former KGB prisons in Vilnius. It's important to keep the memory alive and the public informed on the atrocities that were committed so that such things never happen again.
Pink Ranger Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Just now, Karla Cabello said: it should not be torn down. it should always remain a memorial of what happened so it won't happen again. But you can drink, go partying there and look at fine art! a memorial I get but since 2019 it was converted to that so unless stranger things filmed this particular episode before 2019 the first problem doesn’t lie with them.

Yeah I get that actually, maybe not tear it down, I retract that part of my post. stranger things personally I don’t think have done anything wrong here unless it was filmed prior to this place being converted to what it is now.
brazil Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Actually it seems like the prison was used as a temporary basis before the victims were transfered to Ponaris, where the executions happened. Either way, explanation is needed

nadiamendell Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Why are they acting like "Stranger Things" the show is turning this into a hotel? The need some people have to feel outrage about SOMETHING

1DES Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 (edited) The site already existed before those traject events happened. It was already a prison before and after the war. Edited May 30, 2022 by 1DES

JustHoran Posted May 30, 2022 Posted May 30, 2022 Some people just want to complain about everything. What an annoying world we live in.
