Loudness CAN translate to effecting change, that's the whole point!

I also have been clear I'm not talking solely about Taylor.  I just wish ANY celebrity would stand up, help organize SOMETHING that can help us move past "thoughts & prayers."  The BLM protests were effective in getting a few things done (obviously not as far as it should go), just something like that would be nice to have for gun rights as well.

We warned them for that, don't worry.

This has been going on longer than Taylor existed. If the President of the country doesn’t have the power himself to effect change, what makes you think a few celebrities banding together would do anything? This is not the first nor will it be the last mass shooting in American history. If you have a better solution, maybe go out there yourself and take a stand to make it happen? But maybe you already have, so it’s not my place to assume things or judge you — just like it’s not our place to assume what celebrities have or haven’t done. The NRA are solely responsible for this in the end. They have witnessed mass shootings repeatedly and have done nothing, but make stupid slogans to defend guns. They are complicit to these shootings:rip: It shouldn’t take an astronomical amount of protestors to wake them up. They are just evil!

what's weird is the way Taylor only uses her platform to lead witch hunts against people. she never talks about actual social issues UNLESS she's about to release something :bibliahh:

Doesn't matter if she has any other intention. What matters is that her platform is being used to spread much needed awareness about this issue. This is not the right place or time to take a jab at Taylor.

I appreciate her for speaking up, but there's a shooting like every other day in the US. :emofish:

if you go through that user’s posts you’ll notice an unhealthy obsession with Taylor.

OT: I’m glad she’s using her platform to raise awareness to this issue :clap3:

Nope, it is yours. You want the states with the biggest cities and overall higher level of education and IPC to have a heavier hand in the countries ruling.

Again, I think the US needs to ban weapons, but y’all just need to go back to school before arguing about state powers because it is just damn weak.

You think that states with hundreds of thousands of people should be able to dictate the lives of millions of others? That's literally a small group of people controlling the country despite being nowhere near in the majority.

How can 90% of the country support some sort of gun legislation, yet nothing gets passed and republicans are not punished for it? How is that abortion is going to be banned when almost 70% of the country supports it? How the hell is letting such a small group of people have so much influence over the lives of so many people, justifiable?

But y’all keep saying that as a broken record when there ALREADY is a chamber that represents people. It is very important to have one that represent people (where sits are distributed in accordance to the % of population each state brings) and one that represents the states (equal sits for each state). When you don’t do this, yo automatically shift the scale to big/rich states.

I’ll give you an example: Argentina. It has 23 states (provinces), yet all decisions are basically made by CABA and Buenos Aires, because they have the most sits in each chamber. As a result, all state funds are mostly directed to those two areas (specially Buenos Aires) since it is where most people are and what gets you votes, so they get more welfare and subsidies (ie. public transportation costs 4x in the other provinces vs Buenos Aires, same for energy and services), the best universities, hospitals, companies, are based in BA, etc. This causes a migratory flow to these states, which only further and further reinforces their dominance.

Even inside BA itself there’s a huge unbalance between the sub-states (municipios) as most province rulings are basically passed by those who are voted by the most populous municipios so you have a whole province full of agricultural municipios governed by a person that only won in a sub-development industrial region.

She brings the awareness but I doubt it will affect the above party to change the rules, I mean even Mr Biden seems helpless (unless he against the gun control too):gaycat6:

Sadly this will continue happening, there’s no gun control in that country.
