Protocol Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 "You Need to Calm Down" being #1 on one of the CDs is just.....NO. No ma'am. She does not get to buy her way into gay history with this reductive corporate drivel coming from someone who had ZERO issue cashing in on conservative country coin with her silence while the battle for gay rights was raging in 2008-2012. No ma'am. I don't give a **** I said what I said. She is totally disingenuous in her support of gay rights. She would say ANYTHING that made her popular, and stay silent about ANYTHING to remain popular. She did that in 2008-2012. No ma'am. NO.

You do realize that it’s Now’s team that bought the rights to put it on their own compalation…Taylor didn’t pay to her song on here..

I mean there's Shawn Mendes, Little Mix and Rita Ora on it, the bar was definitely not high in terms of picking gay party bops

She would say ANYTHING that made her popular, and stay silent about ANYTHING to remain popular. She did that in 2008-2012. No ma'am. NO. Get over yourself. She started out as a very young country artist and ditched the genre several years later. Plus she did publicly support gay rights while in the country genre and has used her giant platform to support LGBTQ+ ever since. Why can’t we allow people to grow up, change and do better…. Instead of holding everything against them that occurred 15 years ago? Since when did teenage celebrities become required to publicly weigh in on every single political, human rights, and news issue happening? And we’re talking 10+ years ago when it wasn’t as common for young celebs to do that. Also if you know anything about country music, many country stars are forced to sign contracts where they cannot legally discuss politics, especially back in the day. Even though You Need to Calm Down might seem like she was jumping on the Pride bandwagon, SO WHAT. Who is it hurting? I swear to god gays complain if they’re not supported, and then turn around and complain when there’s too much support! Just be glad you’re living in the time you’re living in now…. Obviously you didn’t have to deal with the 90s and early 2000s when the media, and every single tv show and movie made fun of gay people and used the word fa**** every 10 seconds

mxoonlight Posted May 22, 2022 Posted May 22, 2022 It’s an okay list. Think the old school artists could’ve had much better selections but the contemporary crowd have a pretty good selection.
