I'm so happy! One of the best shows I've watched in a long while, and the whole cast is just amazing :WAP: they deserve it!

I haven't watched this yet but I've heard great things about it, will try to binge watch it this weekend.

This is a great way to start off Friday! Hopefully we will still get a 4th/final season to cover the last two chapters

My boyfriend text me as I was opening this thread.
He started making me watch it and after the first couple episodes I was hooked! When the final episode was over I was heartbroken asf because I wasn’t aware this was an existing property and up for new seasons.

Can’t wait :WAP:

Good for the actors, they have a lot of potential. But the show itself... the writing gave Wattpad. Scary to see how many 18+ LGBTQ+ ppl are acting like this is deep stuff just because it's diverse casting. It's cute for its intended audience of teens but the notion it's 'realistic' because it's neutered & PG is backwards. All the queers I knew at that age were like something out of Skins. LSD, self-harm, ED, smoking blunts, shoplifting, pills, binge drinking, stick & poke tattoos, going on dating apps underage. This show is such a sanitized depiction because it's aspirational, not honest. They're trying to give young ppl role models. It's literally for kids. If you're an adult, you should've grown past the need for this, seriously

Your experience and exposure to the community is not holistic or universal. I didn’t drink alcohol until I was in grad school. Never tried weed until I was 24. And have not had any of the other issues. Not every young person, let along young queer person, has devastatingly traumatic upbringings with illicit drugs, pills, etc. But, that being said, the series does go on to address issues of mental health. But I just don’t see the criticism that something has to be Euphoria to be “realistic”.

As an adult who still encounters gays who can’t communicate their feelings in an effective way, there is very much room for a show where the characters are expressive, honest, and navigate possible drama in a mature way. Instead, queer media often tries to over dramaticize everything for clicks and fodder. It gets cheap after a while and doesn’t help young people (or older people honestly) have healthy ideas of how to navigate issues in relationships. If the show isn’t your thing, that’s fine. But the judgmental attitude towards those that appreciate it is not cute.

OT: Glad to see they didn’t just renew it for one more season. I think three seasons should allow them enough time to cover the whole story from the comics. :clap3:

And you have the nerve to talk in representation of adults. Talk for yourself, sis and let adults enjoy this show and feel represented in some way. This is not just for kids. Wtf?

I'm gonna guess the show will only be 3 seasons so hopefully they plan it well :clap3:

Yes, yes and YES.

They better film the seasons back to back.

I am not sure if I want to read the novels before or just get surprised. Although realistically speaking, season 2 won’t get here until at the very least summer next year

WINNING

Couldn't they have waiting 12 more days until Pride Month for this announcement though? Oh well, I won't be nitpicky now!

They need to start securing talent.

My teenage years were nothing like this. Most of my gay friends, the same. It wasn't Heartstopper in the sense that I did not have idyllic teen romance, but I never drank or did drugs, didn't have sex until I was 20 despite identifying as gay at 14.

What you describe is a real experience - but it's not universal. There is room for shows like Euphoria depicting the themes you talk about - but trauma, drugs, alcohol, sex - these are not what it means to be queer teenager. Shows that are wholesome have a place too.

omg yes! the gays won again! :clap3:I'm gonna be rereading the comic and rewatching the show until the next season comes out.

I'm so happy. :weeps: I've recently finished my third re-watch with my housemate and we already want to watch it again. I love it so much and I'm so happy we get (at least) another two seasons!

This is not universal in my opinion. The young LGBT communities I’ve ever known are not messing around with their lives. You know sexuality doesn’t have anything to do with their personal habits or routines. Another thing is that the show is for different groups of ages, rather than teenagers. Joe also once said in an interview about the same point. Everyone can get their own inspiration and encouragement brought by the show. So girl, why don’t you give yourself a break?
