Disgusting.

That’s horrible.

She made so many points when she said that directors, producers and even many people can’t digest the idea of a dark skinned woman playing specific roles in movies, they box them and limit them so much.

The fact the director had known her for 10 years too…like wtf

What a weirdo!

It’s so sad that Black women in Hollywood struggle to get casted and yet have to face these kinds of disgusting comments.

they need to leak that directors name so his career can be over and all these other old hollywood directors can learn a thing or two about respecting POC once and for all

I know she wanted to slap him.

But I agree with what she said about there still not being enough spaces for black people in Hollywood. It’s so strange to me. It is almost as if we went backwards. The amount of sitcoms, nighttime shows, daytime shows, and films that the black community had in the 90s was humongous. All diverse roles too. It probably could fill up this entire first page of this thread. Now we barely have anything.

She's sharing her truth and you're choosing to turn the other way.

Often these kinds of micro-aggressions catch you off guard and you have no idea they're happening until you stop and think afterwards and realize...WAIT that was not right.

That aspect alone makes it hard to be in a position to secure concrete proof something has happened at the time it happens. This almost always works in the aggressor's advantage, because if she just went all gung-ho naming names to the press, she'd likely be hit with a defamation lawsuit.

Sometimes I think we all need to think a little before we speak.

Exactly. We had Living Single, Girlfriends, Half and Half, etc. The kids even had Proud Family and That’s So Raven.

WTF? I know this is so much easier said than done but I really hope that one she'll be able to name and shame these disgusting weirdos.

It’s time that more women and/or POC directors are hired so stuff like this can stop happening.

You’d be surprised at how many black TV sitcoms that were in the 90s alone. Girlfriends, Half and Half, and those others were in the 2000s. But, I can’t even name every single black show there was then in the 90s. It’s so many that there’s a whole YouTube channel with hundreds of videos of these shows.  Most of these shows didn’t have many seasons because they were cancelled but that’s besides the point. Besides the stereotypical Martin, Living Single, etc., you had:

New Attitude

Sparks

Thea

Out All Night (with literally Patti LaBelle as the lead)

Built To Last

Homeroom

Getting By

For Your Love

On Our Own

704 Hauser Street

You Take The Kids

The Gregory Hines Show

Guys Like Us

The Crew

Buddies (Dave Chapelle prior to his breakout)

Where I Live

Damon

Lush Life

Minor Adjustments

The Parent Hood

City Guys

Tall Hopes

Jackè

And many more that I’m not even listing. Every single show has numerous iconic actors from our community in them. Every single one you can think of. It’s literally mind boggling. I want to try to watch every single one, but there’s so many that it’s overwhelming

I'm not surprised in the slightest and it's really sad that racism is still so so so prevalent in 2022.

That's not only disgusting but also very dumb. I can't picture a grown ass man doing that. :rip:

Someone on Twitter should pull up her resume and look at the directors she has worked with, and then find out which white male director she had a decade long relationship with.

Lets expose the racist bigot!

It figures this would be your response to the situation.
