You realize the top 200 chart of each country also count as playlists right? My Universe debuted at #12 on TTH, I wish they had the payola y'all claim them to have
DonDesperado Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 Out of Atrl, it's a man world. Impressive Taylor numbers, Ariana with a little rest stay strong and Rih with the 6 years and counting hiatus.

Anyhow, Bad Bunny's followers on Spotify are close to his monthly listeners numbers, same for Taylor Swift, Rihanna, Ed Sheeran or even Justin Bieber. But then you've artists with monthly listeners that more than double their followers and that's when you know playlisting is the biggest reason why they've such a huge reach and audience.
IVY Posted May 19, 2022 Posted May 19, 2022 So what does this exactly mean? for example silk sonic has more than 16m listeners so are those listeners also included for Bruno.

Because monthly listeners, means someone listened to them one (or more) time(s) in the month and a lot of people listen to playlists at least once a month. Remember Spotify want to emphasise the importance of playlists, so they can be the gatekeeper for which artists are seen as successful or not.

Or because it takes time to build followers. Or because a song of theirs went viral and the followers haven't caught up yet. It's not that black and white. Of course there's pay for playlisting, I don't think anyone denies that, but most of the artists in the top 20 seem pretty organic to me, tbh
