It's happening again! The first instance involved a Nigerian man, who fled to Cambodia.

________

If Thailand did face a monkeypox outbreak and didn’t have enough imported vaccines, Thailand’s population can be vaccinated using Thailand’s 40 year old stock of smallpox vaccines, which are still safe to use and 85% effective against preventing monkeypox, according to Thailand’s Department of Medical Sciences.

Omg they just said on national news that it’s primarily sexually transmitted between gay men. Yes others can get it but 95% of cases are gay men who have had multiple partners in a short time period :rip:

he said do not worry about buses, trains etc and you should worry about COVID in those situations only

Can I get this by going to the gym? I'm getting super scared already.

If somebody has it and touch the gym tools, then yes, anything somebody (who has it) touches becomes a potential vehicle of virus transmission.

And the homophobia begins:

Probably closeted bi men passing it to their wives after secretly hooking up with men. We will probably see a correlation between conservative homophobic countries and % of women infected because of this.

Why is EVERYTHING you say about monkeypox insulting to the LGBTQ+ community? There are children who have caught it - do you think those children were abused by gay men who had it?

It's possible I guess. They could've also caught it from the gay uncle coming over and hugging. I am a gay uncle myself, so I am being very careful with checking myself for any symptoms despite being vaccinated before I spend any time with my nieces and nephews.

The things I would call you right now would get me warned - you need to be banned from this thread. You are on the side of homophobia and of the Christian right trying to legislate the LGBTQ+ community out of existence

Jeez, you need to chill a bit. I'm a gay man, I don't hate myself. I never brought up children being abused or cases in children at all, you did. Is it technically possible? Sure. Straight people abuse kids, I'm sure some gay people do too. Why even bring it up if you're going to react like this? Like seriously relax lol.

Before you pop a vein, if you ask me the cases in kids are most likely also from closeted bi dads coming home and them getting it via exposure in the same environment, not abuse.

Can I get this from simply hugging my gay friends? :dancehall2: I guess the infection won't we as massive as those who have sex that get those ugly pots all around their mouth :biblio:

Lemme stop hanging out with the gays just in general, for my own's anxiety's sake. Being hypochondriac is exhausting.

This **** is upsetting the f*ck out of me... like I literally got out of a monogamous 2 years relationship, very healthy btw, and now that I want to hoe around I cannot because of this f*ckery!? honestly, what a mess... I was ready to be in the bathhouse sling as I've been a top for the past 2 years and I really wanted to get raw dick... but oh well... I'm vaccinated already but still cannot trust that % that I can still get it...

Yes a simple contact-rub skin to skin is enough with a person that is infected to get it, clearly with sexual activities chances are higher.

I saw a TikTok profile of a guy that has been posted in here pages ago, he basically got it from his gay roomate without having sex with him but just touching his stuff and because they have shared space.

Mess. I wish this was just an STD, now this will ruin my friendships and mental health if this spreads by a single touch. I guess I can still hang out with them for now, but we'll see if I will have to cut it off once it starts more rapid spreads.

Once you get it, do you have immune system that protects you from catching it again? At least from some time?

Question: have there been any reports of anyone who was vaccinated against it but still got it?

As long as you avoid strict contact with them (I know it's not easy, but it's not impossible) and sanitizing your hands, also use antibacterial body wipes if you want stay more safe, basically the same things to prevent Covid (also wearing a mask help), you should be fine, clearly keep stay informed if indeed rapid spreads takes over in your area.

About the second question I found this since I wasn't sure:

Quote

If you have already had monkeypox, you will not usually get it a second time. We do not yet know for sure whether this is also the case after vaccination. You may still develop a skin rash (including blisters) from direct skin contact with someone who has monkeypox, and those blisters are contagious

Can people who have gotten the vaccine quote this with their side effects/post-vaccination experience? I am NOT an anti-vaxxer by any means, before y'all drag me - I get the flu shot every year and am vaxxed and boosted for COVID. But I do have a serious chronic condition that can be aggravated when my immune system is under pressure. So when it comes to new vaccines, my doctor advises me to weigh the pros/cons. An obvious response to this is "the vaccine side effects are better than catching monkeypox," and that may be true, but for someone with my health issues, it may make more sense to avoid being vaccinated if the vaccine triggers severe side effects and just remain celibate/avoid queer spaces for a while. I am curious to know how severe the side effects were for this reason. I'm leaning towards getting it, but still unsure. Thanks in advance!

Edit: I should also mention that when I got the Moderna COVID vaccine in February 2021, it caused intense night itching that continues to this day and is likely to be chronic/never go away. :rip: so that's why I'm potentially inclined to just stay celibate and avoid large queer gatherings than get vaccinated. I've been itchy for a year and a half and I'm scared that a pox vaccine will make me even itchier:chick3:

All I had was a slight pain/bump in my arm that went away after a few days.

With the COVID vaccine I also only had a pain in the arm but it was worse. I was also sceptical about getting this vaccine but I was told that the side effects of the COVID vaccine are a lot worse for people.

They do ask beforehand if you have any issues with your immune system so make sure you check with your doctor/clinic first and let them know about your condition and if it’s ok for you to receive the vaccine.

Only about 60% of the current cases in Africa are in men and the pattern of recent cases on the continent is different from elsewhere, Patrick Otim, WHO Africa’s health emergency officer, said in a briefing Thursday.

“It’s happened in households where people who are exposed to initial transmission from the wild, from the zoonotic, then pass it person-to-person,” he said.

The significant proportion of female cases is because in most of these countries it’s women who largely take care of the sick, he said.
