This has definitely evolved over the last couple of years. I believe most of those men are closeted bisexual men. For some it's a fetish, for others a first step into having sex with another man.

 

I think the reason they have appeared is that trans in general is more prevalent in society, in media, and especially in porn, which these men are watching and then want to experience the real thing. Also, the fact that gays can get sex very easily via Grindr has become more common knowledge among straight men, for whom hooking up with women is always much harder. So some of it is 1s or 2s on the Kinsey scale who would prefer being with a woman but are ok with a cross dressing man because they really want sex and it's the easiest way to get it (and it's also free, unlike a sex worker).

 

Be very careful of these no-profile-pic, "discreet", "looking for CD only" profiles. Most trans women who are murdered get murdered by a dude like this. They are almost always closeted, highly paranoid about being outed, and can also get VERY hostile and aggressive in messages very fast. They also do not want to be considered gay and are very hostile to gay men on those apps. It can be dangerous for gay men to message them because some of them may actually be looking for more than just trans/CD but they will be constantly dealing with their own paranoia of being in the closet and conflicted feelings and you don't know how they're actually going to react if they meet you in person. These are also the types least likely to get tested for STDs.

I've noticed a recent uptick in it too and actually had a coworker of mine (who identifies as straight) admit to me that he would be interested in getting with a trans woman. 

 

I have no problem getting attention on Grindr personally, but I don't see a problem with men on there looking for cross dressers, trans women or super effeminate twinks. They're part of the community too.

This lol. Also, like, the majority of people on Grindr are still regular gay men. And the muscle masc4masc gays are still there and still hooking up with muscle masc4masc gays. Instagay thots are alive and well frolicking on beaches, drinking their protein shakes and going to monkeypox super-spreader events. There's just a new demographic that's entered but the gays are still there getting attention from other gays.

 

If you're on Grindr not getting any attention then it's probably best to leave the app. It's really not psychologically healthy to send photos of yourself to people all day and get zero response.

But trans people don’t use them. Grindr has already stated they aren’t an app for gay men. They are an app for all different identities. 
 

It says it right in the bio. It’s an app for gay, trans, bi and queer people. So there’s no need to make two apps.

ye but the preferences of those people don't cross a lot of the time, so you get a bunch of people uninterested in each other. having two separate apps under the same umbrella might help. and if someone swings both ways they can get both apps

Is not a gen z thing. Idk why some people act like these guys never existed. Theyve always been around but on the DL and using sites like Craigslist and Backpage to meet people before grindr. I should know because i was addicted to craigslist. Most of the guys on there were trolls but every now and then u would meet the hottest guys.
