AdamL44 Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 I have a soft spot for Pixar so I'm rooting for this one despite every promo released so far telling me this is as close a film can get to AI-generated parody of high-concept Pixar. Hate that this movie came about almost certainly because a group of grey suits decided the "what if (x) had feelings" meme was actually a good schema to apply to actual story development...honestly the best of Pixar's recent stuff have been small-scale stories as opposed to high-concept glorified tech demos...with Luca and Turning Red I felt that Pixar had finally discovered a new identity after being bogged down chasing its tail once the infamous '1994-lunch-ideas' had run dry...this just feels like they're once again yearning to be sat around that table. At least this is an original story in an original world. Lightyear was genuine junk lol so I have v low expectations for Inside Out 2. Good news about the RT score though...who knows.
Dark Phoenix Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 The American critics got the check, will watch on D+
poki Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Wtf at the sudden jump Since when does this happen Wtf they actually bribed the critics?
poki Posted June 13, 2023 Posted June 13, 2023 Oh wait it's 49 reviews so far. Lightyear has 315 reviews. This is still too little so no wonder it jumped like this. It's not stabilized yet so let's see what happens.

Poxy Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 (edited) Just got out of my show. It was so cute!! I do think they should’ve emphasized the immigrant aspect of the film a LOT more (in the marketing). It’s so romantic, and I loved the main characters so much!! Edited June 16, 2023 by Poxy
Life Savers Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 I'll watch it this weekend and confirm or disprove the review payola
poki Posted June 16, 2023 Posted June 16, 2023 (edited) If this is actually good I'll eat my hat and blame the ads for a **** job Edited June 16, 2023 by PoKiTaurus
genetic fail Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 This was so beautiful! Pixar really does romance well. The kids at my screening were ROWDY. Too bad they're too young to truly appreciate the masterpiece that this is.

I didn’t have a lot of kids at my showing, but those that were there were definitely entertained, but started to get restless in the middle of the film. I think the romance was not that engaging for them
Jv Chonte Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 I loved it! 🔥💧 The animation is really incredible. I think this movie doesn't deserve a 75% score, it should definitely have the 91% is getting from the audience.
BNF91 Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Looks like audience reception is gonna be better than the critics for Elemental. Even with just a mid 30's debut, maybe this can leg it out to something respectable after all is said and done.
EnigmaticAndroid Posted June 17, 2023 Posted June 17, 2023 Pity that this is opening so comparatively low, hopefully WOM helps it leg out well and it does solidly overseas. While flawed, it's still a very enjoyable movie with stunning animation. It'd be a shame for this to fully flop.
poki Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 I'm already seeing just as bad reactions online for their 2024 movie as I saw for this one when the first trailer dropped. Only a matter of time before Pixar focuses solely on their Disney+ shows for eternity. I simply can't believe how hard they fell. Back in the 2000's Pixar carried Disney HARD, but nowdays the roles are reversed, and Disney is more powerful than ever...
Gossip_Boy Posted June 18, 2023 Posted June 18, 2023 Disney is lucky The Flash’s floppage will take all the attention away from Elemental’s floppage because these numbers are disastrous. That said it seems it’s been well received by the audience so it might end up legging out? Chapel has done so much damage to Disney animation.
