Not you bringing this up unprovoked because I simply dragged Katy's songwriting in the past.

 

I haven't even called Rina is the greatest songwriter in the world (not even close) but yes I find her cheesiness/earnestness and on-the-nose lyrics way better than Katy Perry if that's what you wanna know. Let's not derail the thread with this off-topic comparison now.

I’m confused. I loved Sawayama and enjoyed most of the singles for this, but this album is tough to listen to. The mixing is so loud and her voice is grating… 

 

And every time I look at the cover it gives me enema bulb.

I mean... Breakaway is one of the biggest albums of the 2000s.

 

Are there really people this put off by the inclusion of guitars? I can't imagine the Euro and Euro-adjacent girls being so aghast at the Kelly/Avri sound when Rina herself is British so somehow it crossed the pond. 

 

Like is it really shocking someone who was a British teen in 2003 may first reference albums like:

     

 

And yes, Rina went to the Christian Top 40 pop church of Mother Orrico!

 

It's like people forget that a 32-year-old woman is going to have references that reflect someone born in 1990.
