I really LOVE Holy but the chorus mixing is so bad. :noparty: SAWAYAMA also suffered from sound mixing problems this but it's more prominent on this album imo.

The run from TH to Hurricanes is holy.

Send My Love To John is well written, but I need more listens.

why she has to shout on most of the songs :deadbanana:

and the same tired uninspired beat

I only like Catch me in the air and Holy :rip:

her voice is still amazing, but this album is such a misfire

Holy to Hurricanes is the best stretch of the album for me. Everything outside of it is just alright but maybe it'll grow on me.

Was not a fan of the singles at all, but when you hear the album as a whole it clicks. Her mind. :jonny:

Very much enjoying the album :clap3:

I have finally developed a level of clearance, intelligence and taste to get Holy (TYLMG) :-*

several songs in the middle have the same thumping beats I'm tired

the album feels quite generic large part because of the uninspired production

Scratch that! Send My Love To John hit hard after a few listens, feel like it'll end up as one of my fave songs from her. :chick3:

I wish the title track didn't have that ugly drop ugh :dies:  Otherwise its really good and the key change at the end is an album highlight!

Theres literally not a single offensively BAD song here like f words have been saying for days now. Even This Hell still bops in all its Born Brave Bus glory idgaf what you all say. :celestial4:

The album definitely suffers from some sound mixing issues and questionable cringey lyrics which, again, were both present on SAWAYAMA as well. Her songwriting regressed a bit and it lacks the wow factor that her debut album had, some songs are too on-the-nose lyrically but she really knows how to sell that earnestness, vulnerability and wholesomeness in her lyrics imo. Her debut EP had them too. That is just her I fear.

The theme, production, melodies and vocals are all just stellar. Her projects so far really do feel like a connected trilogy seeing how this record continues her journey of processing and healing from her childhood trauma. This made me wanna revist her entire discography.

Top 5:

Catch Me in The Air

Holy

Send My Love to John

Frankenstein

Phantom or Imagining or To Be Alive

I can see this changing because I genuinely like almost every song here. :michael:

I still don't know how I feel about this album. I love ~7 of the songs. Least favorite is To Be Alive, that's the one that did absolutely nothing for me. Maybe ending the album with on my least favorite song is why I feel so mixed about this. I haven't been reading everyone's reviews/opinions but I love Send My Love to John, not sure if I'm the only one or not lol. Still a pretty solid album. Hopefully the other songs will grow on me more

Really enjoying this album. Not as much as Sawayama but it doesn’t have to be!

Also, has anyone hear noticed Send My Love To John literally sounds like X-Static Process by Madonna?

My fave part is from Forgiveness to Frankenstein. A 1-5 PUNCH! The Drum 'n Bass sound of Frank is hitting those spots, I fear. :jonnycat:

To Be Alive has to be her best vocal performance yet?? I got chills! :jonny4:

My Bottom 3 so far is Hurricanes, Send My Love to John (I like the lyrics, though) & Phantom. They are just a bit on the generic side for me. Hurricanes in particular sounds like a harder sounding Catch Me In the Air and kinda grating, honestly. I can see John growing, though.

Top 3 so far is Imagining, Forgiveness and Frankenstein. Other standouts for me are the title track and CMITA.

Sawayama is definitely better, but this album isn't bad by any means, I like it quite a lot which is surprising since the pre-release tracks were a mixed bag for the most part, imo.

This is the same as Sawayama. Cute effort overall, some amazing highlights, some major lows.

I’m the only one who doesn’t like Catch Me In The Air? Such an uninspired and generic boring track. Can’t get the praise it’s getting here

the way y'all wrote this off after the first few singles but she came back with Holy, which is a SOTY contender :clap3: good album overall, I'm still split on the singles but I'm feeling the album tracks in the middle
