I wish the vocals were further forward in the mix and the instrumentals less loud because Your Age and Imagining have AMAZING vocals production but feels very 2012 with how it’s all mixed. It all sounds very claustrophobic and nothing really hits because it feels like a war for the sonic focus :rip:

She really saved the best for album tracks huh

Have to agree with the complaints about the sound mixing.

Other than that, I feel like the album is… fine, but the lyricism feels a lot more generic than most of her past music?

This Hell is legit one of the worst written pop songs in recent history. I hate it so much. :biblio:

Your Age has an interesting concept, but the song doesn’t really work at all.

Holy, Frankenstein, and Phantom are the  standouts for me. Those are the songs where everything is just right. Lyrics, vocals, production, conceptual clarity; the songs really came together.

Send My Love To John is very touching and unique, and well written, but it’s not something I see myself listening to much.

She got the start and finish just right. Minor Feelings and To Be Alive are very good.

I won’t pretend the album isn’t a let down, but it’s not nearly as bad as I feared it would be after the horror of This Hell and decent-but-underwhelming CMITA and HTG.

of course Flavor of the Month sounds better than 90% of the actual album....

why are artists always like this

The final choruses on this album are beyond, the way it all comes together to explode :jonny:

NO idea. But on the topic of smouldering douches, do we know why the album cover is what it is? very curious

Beats me :rip: it's awful. Serving lady Deathstrike morphed with an enema

Imagining :ohwow: love it. I agree with comments on here re the mixing.

I just love how she loves all genres of music, the sprinkle of different sounds in each of the tracks is so interesting to me. The drums at the end of Frankenstein are mad.

I'm not as disappointed as I thought I was going to me. Still excited to see her on tour in October.

The cover is serving anal douche and the single is serving Born This Way C-side. Off to a disappointing start.

I still 100% stand by this, btw. :lmao: And I really like the album. I said what I said.

mixing issues aside, she SLAYED with this one. not as good as SAWAYAMA in terms of genre/lyrics but this is a solid follow-up. the 1-2-3-4-5 punch of forgiveness, holy, your age, imagining, and frankenstein is unstoppable :WAP:  she said happy bisexual visibility month with the religious trauma sprinkled throughout, damn

id include CMITA as a 1-2-3-4-5-6 punch bc I also stan that, but yes, this is an incredible run of tracks :WAP:

I think its a shame the singles didint quite hit bc people are missing out on the true gems of the record

mixing is indeed weird and I noticed that when Catch me in the air dropped. interested to see how it sounds on vinyl

okay that's fair - it's definitely a run of the ages! and I completely agree, the unreleased material hits far harder than the singles. hope the singles didn't hurt the album's success ugh

can confirm it sounds better on vinyl, but the issue isn't entirely fixed sadly :chick3:
