Hmm maybe not so much lyrics-wise, but melody-wise I think her songwriting is really top-notch on this record

Yea, I mentioned this a page or two ago but I agree - amazing melodies. That said, I wonder how much she contributes to the melodies; not to discredit her, it's just that she calls out the lyrics specifically and separate from the songs themselves, as so the songs' credits.

The run from Catch Me In The Air to Frankenstein is absolute perfection, brilliant sophmore.

Genuinely baffled by anyone who's not enjoying this. Bangers galore, it's perfectly crafted, the production hits, the lyrics are relatable, the 00s ode sprinkled throughout is fun.

Is that a Xstatic Proccess sample on 'Send My Love To John'? The guitar melody is identical.

The Holy - Your Age - Imagining - Frankenstein run >

SAWAYAMA is miles better though

I like this album a lot more than Sawayama :jonny5: AOTY confirmed

It's not Sawayama but it's cute, the singles were a horrible choice

MF - 7/10 - A decent opener
HTG - 5/10 - Its fine
TH - 7/10 - Self-aware of its cheese and it works imo.
CMITA - 7/10 - Love the last half of it
Forgiveness - 4/10 - It just goes on and on. production is bland
Holy - 6/10 - Enjoyable. Nothing special.
YA - 4/10 - It's giving Demi. A grower maybe.
Imagining - 8/10 - noice
Frankenstein - 4/10 - Idk... I liked it when it leaked but the production is kinda brown noise/lame
Hurricanes - 2/10 - Horrendous
SMLTJ - 1/10 - Spare me :pukey:
Phantom - 3/10 - Boring.
TBA - 4/10 - --

I feel like if this was the first Rina album I'd heard I might like it more but knowing what she is capable of this just feels so plain.

But that's my issue with it. Where are the bangers besides This Hell and tracks 6-9? The rest is ballads or midtempos at best

Minor Feelings: 8

Hold the Girl: 9,5

This Hell: 7,5
Catch Me In the Air: 10

Forgiveness: 9,5

Holy (Til You Let Me Go): 9,5

Your Age: 9

Imagining: 9

Frankenstein: 8,5

Hurricanes: 10

Send My Love To John: 9

Phantom: 10

To Be Alive: 8

Probably my favourite pop release this year along with MUNA. Literally 0 skips. Loved it much more than SAWAYAMA. She’s incredibly talented in creating melodies and harmonies. Her vocals are holy and the production is rich and diverse. She did that.

Half the album is uptempo though.

Minor Feelings - 2/10 pointless

Hold the Girl - 4/10 ugly but the last minute is nice

This Hell - 8 a jam

Catch Me in the Air - 3/10 one of the corniest songs I've ever heard I cringe every time

Forgiveness - 1/10 it literally is the definition of bland and boring. also that Disney esque melody on the chorus makes me want to throw up

Holy - 7/10 really nice chorus but the melody of the verses is clunky and juvenile. production is amazing

Your Age - 10/10 one of the best songs she's ever released. the outro is insane

Imagining - 9/10 really awesome song. this and Your Age are the direction this album should've been. It would've been a perfect upgrade of SAWAYAMA

Frankenstein - 8/10 a banger and I love the outro

Hurricanes - 7/10 I really like this one compared to the other snoozey midtempos. Chorus is nice and nostalgic

Send My Love to John - 4/10 way too sappy. Not my thing

Phantom - 5/10 boring, basically a better version of Forgiveness but that's not saying much. Guitar is nice

To Be Alive - 2/10 horrendous and corny. What the **** are these lyrics? Is she in third grade?

average - 5.4 definition of mid

I keep relistening to see if it'll click as a whole project. I'm really trying to like it because I love Rina so much but I'm struggling :rip:
