I would see a therapist if I stanned Sabrina Carpenter, that’s for sure.

This is just embarrassing for you at this point. You’re literally using a kindergartner’s arguing skills :hoetenks:

I fear shes riding on hype in terms of critical acclaim, this album is obviously not as good as Sawayama :skull:Not bad by any means but a clear step down imo

That wasn’t me who raised the therapist thing, kiddo. You should know to choose your battles.

How is this at 88 on metacritic? Sounds like a typical lower 70s. I didn't enjoy this at all :cries:

Glad to see this getting acclaim. F words always lose. Cant wait to listen tomorrow :duca:

One thing I don't understand though...I get that the lyrics here might be "cringey" (haven't heard everything though but judging by the first 3 songs) and apparently they make sense in the context of the album, but why are people suddenly acting like Rina is this amazing, excellent, mega talented songwriter when even SAWAYAMA had its share of cringey lyrics though?

Then why are critics praising it? Is she Beyonce, Taylor or Adele?

I don't think anyone thinks SAWAYAMA is the best lyrical album ever, but it is substantially better written than HTG, without a doubt. Maybe it had a few cheesy lyrics here or there, but HTG is literally filled with cliches, lazy lines and/or cheesy lyrics - in every single song. It's wild Lol

That's what I'm saying, I think she's just got critical hype in a similar way to those artists :celestial5:No shame in admitting it. Again, the album is good - just not as good as Sawayama.

Critics are bandwagoners. It goes both ways, like how critics trashed Lana Del Rey for years even though she was serving quality from the start :celestial5:

I really wanna like Rina but I find her music hit and miss. From the new album I love ''This Hell'' & like ''Catch me in the air'' but have found the other singles not for me. Is the rest of the album any good and in the vein to the ones I like?

Yeah this take make more sense, I agree. It's been clear from the moment we heard This Hell nn. I've just been seeing a lot of people lashing the lyrics and comparing them to Sawayama so I got confused lol

Phantom, Forgiveness and To Be Alive follow the CMITA path. Hurricanes is pop/rock but in a different way than This Hell.

I don't mind Rina's lyrics I appreciate that she writes about topics besides just sex or love like every other pop artist :celestial5:Agree that This Hell is cheesy tho

Right :toofunny3: But honestly she couldn't have made this album and not had cheesy lyrics. I still love the sentiment behind the album, and honestly it's literally just pop music . . who cares if it's not some lyrical masterpiece. Great production, killer vocals and fantastic melodies. It's a great album :clap3:

This is such a great and underrated point; love as a topic is in the vast minority of her discog to say the least and she often has such interesting things to talk about. LOVE that about her. And love that both albums are so cohesive in their theme/purpose; she doesn't just throw a bunch of random songs together and give it some loose/generic title.

This coming from the person who has broken various rules such as flamebait, trolling, going off-topic, etc. Getting mighty brave, aren’t we :gaycat2:

I was actually being serious tho, not playing around. I’ve rarely seen someone react with this much anger and negative energy over someone simply saying an album you like is disappointing to them. Seriously, read the room sis. No one is here for this.

so glad we’re mentioning how diverse her lyrical topics are i mean you play all her music and youll get one of the most eclectic discography’s topically and genre wise and that why i love her because you can tell she loves the music she grew up on and that inspires her now and i’m the same way like there hasn’t been a sound she’s explored that i didn’t love

What you have done is serious, much more than “trolling”, “diverting” and “flamebait” (things by the way you have done as well). Getting mighty brave, aren’t we?

Ok sis. I hope you become a happier, more content person someday, that doesn’t feel the need to lash out at anyone that expresses any opinion that they disagree with, even the most mild ones. I’m gonna block you now for my own mental health, and I mean that sincerely. Take care.

the way some of you clearly don't get enough attention irl so you have to act like idiots online to be interesting... I know Rina would write a killer song about a topic like this  :WAP:

And I hope you don’t play with such a serious thing like mental health. Take care.

Just finished listening, it was really good! To be honest though, my first impression is that this is my least favourite Rina project yet. It’s the least instant for me and I think because I’ve been so head over heels for everything Rina has done thus far (RINA + SAWAYAMA), this one’s soundscape isn’t as tailored to the genres I love as her other two. I still need to listen to the songs a bit more to fully form an opinion though, because the singles all grew on me greatly after repeated listens, especially Phantom. So far I would give it a 7.5/10.
