I'm waiting for Flavor of the Month teas. If the album is "so good" then why do my opinions bother you? Sounds like cope

I'm checking for Flavor of the Month in the hopes that that's actually another good song :)

The way some of y'all have to cope by pretending this is a good album is what's embarrassing

Is attention lacking at home or what?

Hurricanes is great. Can’t wait to listen to the album Friday :jonny4:

Hurricane is beautiful but needs some time to grow on me. Phantom on the other hand is slowly creeping up into my top2 of the released singles

This is gonna be my AOTY I fear

Surprised by all the hate. I really enjoy most of the released songs, they have such a nostalgic sound :heart2:

I also listened to Imagining & Frankenstein and they’re such bops :jonnycat: Excited for the rest on Friday :duca:

Your Age KNOCKS :jonny5:unequivocally the best song off the album. She should have made this the next single instead of Hurricanes.

Ohh Phantom is emotional :jonny5: those guitar riffs got me in shambles :jonny5:

Okay so after listening to the album in full for the past three days, I will say that I don't think ballads are Rina's strong suit. Send My Love To John was decent but To Be Alive, Phantom and Forgiveness were underwhelming and almost unlistenable. Your Age, Frankenstein and Holy are by far the best songs and I will most certainly be returning to those tracks, but everything else falls short. I still don't like any of the singles except This Hell which I later came around to. Admittedly, both Catch Me In The Air and Hold The Girl sound better in the context of the album, but I'm still not crazy about either tracks and Hurricanes doesn't do much for me.

All in all, HTG definitely suffers from sophomore slump and is overall an underwhelming follow-up to SAWAYAMA and even RINA sadly. It's not a horrible album at all, if this is your first introduction to Rina's music, you might thoroughly enjoy the album without any qualms, but when you've heard her previous album, EPs and singles; Hold The Girl's discrepancy in quality definitely sticks out.

That being said, I'm without a doubt an official Your Age, Holy and Frankenstein stan

Another magazine cover :clap3: This era just keeps on giving, she has a great team despite being signed to an indie label. Certain someone should take notes… :gaycat6:

Today I was walking my friends dog around the neighborhood and listened to the full album in order (Previously I was stuck on a few songs only) and I have to say this is my favorite release so far this year! It didn't click with me at first, I was listening Holy and Imagining nonstop kinda overlooking everything else, but today everything just fell into places. Album feels very fresh and nostalgic at the same time. The first third feels like an easy slow beggining, once Holy hits it kinda knocks you out with very harsh and more experimental sounds and with Hurricanes eases you in to that nostalgic ending which is just beautiful. This Hell was probably the worst first single and most misleading representation of the album, because thats the only song I would remove from the album. Everything else just works together for the concept.

Even with all the different sounds album feels really cohesive. Love the 2000's pop sounds and ballads mixed with more alternative angsty style. Even if SAWAYAMA knocks harder and pushes more boundaries, I would say this is a very very satisfying sophomore album.

Mess, it literally wasn't when I checked. :skull:

Good for her tho, the rates so far are the same as SAWAYAMA expect for a couple reviews that are higher. A 100 from DIY (SAWAYAMA had 80), we'll see if also NME/Q will give a 100 just like they did with her debut. Pitchfork could be a pain in the *** as usual.
