Rina Sawayama - 'Hold the Girl'

Marina is absolute trash after FROOT. Everyone knows. It’s been 7 years, hang it up.

Rina has been consistently great, Hold the Girl included… y’all are so dramatic.

hold on- cause not me liking this and honestly more than sawayama :toofunny2: i didn't expect to enjoy this after "this hell" completely killed the hype for me and made me skip the other pre-releases.

the title track, this hell & frankenstein are my least faves atm. this hell is still a hot mess. your age, imagining & elton john though :jonnycat: all the other tracks are nice. i love "minor feelings" too.

why is nobody talking about how forgiveness is easily one of her best tracks ever? it’s serving euphoric 2009 pop/rock. a smasha

it's so good

The absolute dramatics in this thread…. Never change gays :bibliahh:

The pop melodies on this album are top-tier - hook after hook that stays firmly lodged in my head after only 1-2 listens :clap3: But in terms of the album as a whole (production, lyrics, melodies etc), i think SAWAYAMA > HTG. Still a very good follow-up though

Right? Forgiveness is a highlight. The hearing loss in this thread is v concerning and weird.

I will hold out for the official release but all of the singles so far are absolute abomination so don't expect much for this :rip:

Do we have descriptions yet of Flavour of the Month? Did the people who got their hands on the album early have that? I don't think I've seen any descriptions of it from around that time.

It's interesting that, based on its registration number, it (and Forgiveness!) was originally recorded for SAWAYAMA.

Plz SAWAYAMA is one of the loudest albums I can think of - and super over-compressed (IMO). Plus, you are delusional if you equate it with 'constraint' :skull:

Anyway, Hurricanes out today? :alexz:

i think SAWAYAMA still have much better instrumental, not quiet but not busy and crowded as songs from HTG so far

My interpretation is she has been running outside in the storm/ hurricane (probably some ordeals?) for a long time and is searching for that one person who is willing to open their door for her to seek shelter (ie someone to love and care for her)

There's no sample - nothing in the credits. What part are you talking about?
