None of the tracks outside the title track could make it on SAWAYAMA, not sure why some of y’all are lying to yourself and trying to gas them up :rip:

I didn't even realize she had another single out and I wish I still didn't because it's bad too :rip:

This is 2/4 for me! I just wish she would drop this Y2K sound, it's tiring at this point

Damn. He's really not feeling these new songs

What I HATE is that any of these songs could easily be on SAWAYAMA and she did that because people on the internet were telling her that that album was a “cultural reset!!1!1” and now everyone is switching on her. And don’t get me wrong, SAWAYAMA is a really good album (not great) and HTG is 4/4 for me; but I hate people acting like she changed or something. :deadbanana:

no, they really couldn't have.

:bibliahh:

Sawayama was peak - anything on that album is light years ahead of what she's put out. Hold The Girl is honestly the only decent one, and even that took a minute to click.

4/4 so far

See, you are one of the ones who would think it was a cultural reset or whatever. For me songs like Paradisin’, Love Me 4 Me or Chosen Family are exactly the same kind of 2000s and Disney pastiche people are complaining about right now.

Can't you just love an album without thinking this? Also the HTG songs are indeed nothing like SAWAYAMA. IDK where you got this information

Where did I say it was a cultural reset?

:gaycat:

What I said, if you care to read beyond your biased view, is that Sawayama is miles ahead of anything she's put out from *this* album. Sawayama took a minute to click for me too, but it's a great album in the sense she could put out anything from that album now and it would still sound fresh.

L&Q gave an 90 for the album:

"a genre-busting masterpiece from someone uniquely in sync with popular culture".

Heard two things on TT back when she did: She pushed for physicals and to accommodate a new single, which I think was Phantom. It’s comin in two weeks

Now we're gonna have to wait 2 more weeks, that review gave me hope again for the album. I can't wait to hear Imagining.

If there are any Australians/New Zealanders in here, I just got an advertisement on Instagram saying that the tour was coming down here and she hasn't forgotten about us. :jonnycat:

Some of the tracks descriptions from the articles:

Forgiveness: Ballad with the same vibe of Phantom but with some country elements

Holy: House Music Anthem

Imagining: PC-Music / Hyperpop Clique

To Be Alive: Melancholic, Drum N' Bass Production

Very excited about To Be Alive and Holy!

Also Hurricanes studio could be great

MF mostly vocals with some nice bass.

Forgiveness def the most country song she's been talking about ... Cute but won't really be a fan favorite

Holy huge, huge sounding - dark / not happy lyrically

Your Age banjo hard rock bop, STFU!-lite. Great lyrics and she really goes IN

Imagining literally sounds like there's a feature in the verses, the vocal production is so wack :deadbanana2:

Hurricanes way better than the live version, easily one of my favorites

Frankenstein a huge, weird ass bop but I LIVE - huge 4 on the floor

SML guitar and gorgeous vocals, think CF the live version she plays on tour (IK this will probs scare people, kii)

To Be Alive is truly the worst of the worst, lyrically speaking - Katy Perry-level bad.

inch resting, are we gonna witness some switcheroo when the acclaim pours?

Absolutely, some articles got deleted but all of them acclaimed the album. TFF gave an 80:

"On her second full-length record, Rina Sawayama speaks to her inner child through genre-spanning, festival-ready bops."
