Movimento Perpétuo Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 I do truly like Hold the Girl, cute song. Her voice there reminded me of Gaga
Shoful Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 Why is everyone being so critical of the song. It’s so great. Her best from the album so far
ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted July 29, 2022 ATRL Moderator Posted July 29, 2022 Hold the Girl is by far the best track from the album so far, and I'm back to being perched for the album release A return to form

I truly don't get what happened She got a bit of buzz push so the music quality followed i start thinking niche/alt pop girls delievers the best stuff til the answers the call of the mainstream sirens. Charli XCX (formerly), Tinashe (formerly too) and Kim Petras are good examples. Edited July 29, 2022 by Bencharmer
mystery Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 I am sorry but this song is so horrid to me, I can't even describe it but there is just something about it that doesn't work at all and it sounds cheesy. It honestly gives parody movie music, her voice sounds like it is straining so bad towards the end and just no. I hate this because I really want to like her new material but it is just not clicking for me at all.
K$Ellie Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 praying the album has more uk garage like the title track
cockatoo Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 This is decent tbh. I've liked all of the singles so far but I'd say TH>HTG>CMITA
Alex Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 why is nothing clicking for me, might have to sit this era out.
computer.boy Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 Catch Me In the Air > This Hell / Hold the Girl (HTG sounds like 3 songs in one, what even is that "drop").
Worm Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 I listened to HTG and I am SCALPED I only liked one out of the pre-Sawayama singles too so this bodes well for the album. (Yeah okay so the verses are kinda trash, but WHEW that chorus >>>>>>)
Terylee Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 Since the release I wake up in the morning and HTG is stuck inside my head. Help.
Supervillain Posted July 30, 2022 Author Posted July 30, 2022 Her voice during the "IIIIII WON'T LEAVE YOU ON YOUR OWN" part This song is a masterpiece.
americanlife Posted July 30, 2022 Posted July 30, 2022 That "drop" is giving 2016/17 tropical house. Least favorite single so far in my opinion.
mathekr Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 Japan is getting Sawayama outtake Flavor of the Month as a bonus track https://store.universal-music.co.jp/product/pocs24015/?sci_refl=1
Archetype Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 I don't like HTG, it sounds dated to me and not in a nostalgic way. Or like any random movie soundtrack song. Idk.

Jagger Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 (edited) Title track is horrible. Didn't like CMITA either. This Hell is amazing though. I'm sick of corny songs about her family and childhood like get EDGY I'm so worried about this album Edited August 2, 2022 by Jagger
Bryan Spears Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 HTG and CMITA >>>>> Ugh i cannot wait for this masterpiece!
Pendulum Posted August 2, 2022 Posted August 2, 2022 3/3 so far Didn't like HTG at first but then it clicked

lgaga1fan Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 I don't get the "childish" criticism people keep flinging at Rina with this album when Sawayama had plenty of cheesy songs on it. Love Me 4 Me, Paradisin, Chosen Family, Tokyo Love Hotel, etc. Those songs + the new singles all have somewhat "cheesy" lyrics but her vocal performances and the messages behind them carry through well. Catch Me In The Air is probably the best example. Its a really beautiful tribute to her relationship with her mother and feels quite anthemic.
Cain Posted August 3, 2022 Posted August 3, 2022 She's 0/3 for me so far, all the songs are corny. I think her newfound tween fanbase got to her Hopefully the full album is good
