discussion Why can't studios give Griselda Blanco a proper portrayal?

It can be done! Think Charlize Theron in Monster; Michael Douglas as Liberace; Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher; Wagner Moura as Pablo Escobar in Narcos; etc... But when it comes to Griselda, studios keep botching the nature of her story by portraying her as some glamorous femme fatale when she was actually an overweight, granny-esque murderer... It’s like the user above said the gp doesn’t want to see a old overweight everybody loves Raymond grandma looking woman be a murderer on the big screen. A lot of the reasons why those other roles succeed was due to the actress and transforming involve in. Like Charlize Theron with monster.

Y'all keep saying nobody wants to see an overweight old lady murdering people, while bypassing the fact that realistic portrayals often smash at the box office and collect accolades back to back to back. If the gp found out J.Lo was wearing prosthetics to look homely, gritty, and overweight - for an iconic performance, they would show up... Just as people did for Charlize, Meryl, Jessica C, Christian Bale, and the others that didn't mind looking gross to make the portrayal more accurate. It really doesn't make sense why studios are ignoring that over and over. I really hope Jennifer comes through and gets that Oscar nom...

Sorry, but Catherine Zeta-Jones did amazing in Cocaine Godmother. You're also forgetting her portrayal was for a Lifetime film. And Netflix seems to be unoriginal in just trying to mirror what Zeta-Jones did with the Lifetime film. It will be interesting to see what Jennifer Lopez does if her film gets produced.

they are not exactly promoting it since it's still in pre-production stage  ofc only a few people would be aware of it

Hollywood talking about Sofia's transformation is so funny to me, because she looks nothing like the real Griselda  like what was the point?
