The way nobody can give any legit criticism of the current system without being told “Kaarija stans share one brain cell” :skull:

the way my post was a copy paste of someone in this thread that said "loren fans are giving one brain cell" :bibliahh:

Also we in Greece paid half a million euros for that atrocious performance :deadbanana4:

Please, the nepotism of it all :deadbanana2: y’all need to pull an Israel and start sending stars, and make Greece great again. The fact that all the big Greek artists have chosen to go with Cyprus in the last few years :deadbanana2:

How is the reaction to that going down in Greece? I heard yall are FUMING

Everyone is constantly skull drugging our national broadcast in the last week.

Also the fact that the juries didn't give 12 pts to Cyprus is considered as the biggest scandal of the year.

There isn't a single person in Greece that isn't fuming with our national broadcaster after what happened this year.

where is the 2x figure coming from? are we just making up stats now? :deadbanana2: ridiculous.

He said that millions of people voted for Loreen. We don't know that either but I didn't see you quoting that post.

One thing we know is that Finland received the most points from 18 countries while no country had Sweden as their favourite.

Also having 130+ more points is a huge gap and the only ridiculous thing is the fact that it didn't win after this huge margin in televoting

If it wasn't for the jury, France and Austria would've been even more panned than what they ended up being in the final. Do you all think it's fair that Croatian group got far more points than them just because they were "fun to look at", were quirky and had a good placement position?

Their last two winners were great performers but in a campy way that felt like pure-Eurovision and not something too serious.  So it’s interesting to hear that dynamic has changed into something more serious.

I think that criticism is more so in relation to this year, with Noa being their representative. But Eurovision is definitely something that people are proud of there. Abanibi, Hallelujah, and Chai are all iconic songs in their own right in Israel

so you're okay with the Song Contest turning into Political Friends and Immigrant Census contest again? the unfair edge increased public vote would give to certain countries would be nothing but democratic.

the public has decided who wins. they gave 243 points to Sweden, more than the televote runner-up got last year. this year happened to be one where the public #1 didn't win overall, like Duncan Laurence and Jamala. literally the only difference in the equation is the Kaarija stans' entitlement.

No, that's not ok ofc, but juries can be political too, and vote for the neighbors etc.

At least I think it's healthy that we are having this debate over the voting system, like every year really. I don't want Loreen to get any hate ofc. Some people on Reddit and elsewhere need to chill.

r/eurovision has turned into a hellhole. Like we get it she looked high... you know it's bad when the other pop reddits and r/europe has taken it better

we can assume "millions" for Loreen and Kaarija both, it's common sense. "Kaarija got 2x more votes" is fiction you just came up with.

not circling back to the "12 points" discussion again :deadbanana2: 243 public vote points are invalid because none of it was a 12?

But remember that even if you get 10x more votes than the second, you only get 2 points more in the 12 point ranking system. So there's no way to tell how big landslide Käärijä got in the phone lines. I'd love to see the raw numbers. It could be a little bit more than Loreen, or a lot more. We will never know.

yup that is my exact point. no need to pull a random number out your ass and say he got twice as much.

I’d be willing to bet the difference between the two was quite big, since Loreen not only got zero televote 12s but also only eight televote 10s.

The propagandist way of interpretating the results , completing ignoring the fact that Finalnd got almost twice as many points as Sweden. Who cares is Sweden got 1000 points, when there is another country getting 1800 points. It's crazy how Loreen fans here are trying to persuade is that 1000>1800

Eurovision is a VERY big deal in Israel. Combining their biggest pop star with Eurovision made this year’s contest a real event. While I’ve seen that most people are proud of Noa’s entry, I’ve seen some people also feel bitter about Europe not taking the contest “as seriously” as Israel, and voting for acts like Finland, Croatia, etc. It’s an interesting dynamic!

Israel rooting behind Noa, Finland going crazy for Käärijä, Melodifestivalen in general, that's what Eurovision should be at the end of the day. I'd love to see almost all countries really commit to it and stand behind their act and make it such a national event but easier said than done.

I'm very interested in seeing whom Israel sends next as Noa would be a tough act to follow and the promo was crazy. Mergui was their second choice this year but I don't see it for him!

Well the winning song got only 65% of Cha Cha Cha . Still embarrassing

Screaming at the fact that Little Kaajirasters are STILL going at it when most of his fanbase are locals who think they are too good for the Eurovision and pretend like they don't care about it, but in reality they do care and a joke act like Kaajira winning would make them feel better about watching Eurovision. We just had two worst winners of all time in a row with Foreskin and Kalush Borechestra and even as a big Eurovision fan I didn't have melties cause it's really not that serious. No one is gonna remove Kaajira's clown show from YouTube so go watch it in silence instead of acting like babies and DEMANDING for the rules to change all cause your fave FLOPPED and TANKED :bird:

I was talking about it the other day with some friends and maybe a voting system similar-ish to Benidorm could work:

50% televoting

50% jury voting which gets calculated by

- 25% from professional jury: expand jury members from 5 to 10, ensure diversity in backgrounds/age/musical tastes

- 25% random demographic survey

If a flop/tank is getting 12's from mostly every single European country and getting no.7 on the global Spotify chart - then call me a flop all day!

Abso-f******-lutely! I am sick and tired of this shitting on Croatia this year by the ESC fandom (people who know nothing or have extremely limited knowledge about and understanding of music and performance). Croatia and Let 3 deserved even MORE points from both the jury and the public because they had an actually interesting and highly intelligent composition. Moreover, they gave an entertaining avant-garde (for Eurovision) performance. Anyone who's actually studied--and I mean actually professionally studied--music (history, theory, composition, etc.) and drama for years knows how intricate, full of references, musical, visual, and lyrical, and perhaps most importantly how unique the Croatian song is. It is not for everyone, that is true, hence "only" 112 points from the public, but to say that that song did not deserve significantly more points from the so-called "professional" juries is utterly ignorant, in the full meaning of that word. :rip:

The Måneskin bashing has to end at some point. They are by far the biggest act to have come out of ESC in a long time. Bigger than Loreen if you look at their charting and Spotify numbers beyond Eurovision. And Käärijä could live on as a Euro-cult figure like Verka Serduchka.
