Eurovision Song Contest 2023 | Loreen does it again!

There's another change I'd like to see implemented within the jury voting system. Instead of having jurors rank all 25 songs and then finding the song's average placement, I'd rather have each juror rank their top 10 (with #1 getting 12 points, #2 getting 10 points and so on). Divisive songs (like Cha Cha Cha) would benefit from this because one juror couldn't tank it.

Unique? Sure, I'll give you that. But everything else... not for me. We get it was meant to be a dig to Putin but the song is beyond repetitive and its structure is very chaotic to say the very least. And to top it all off, they were not very great performers. They weren't even in sync with the "choreography". That was bad, the reason why the public was behind this was the same as the reason why people voted for Verka, the Russian grannies, and so on. History repeat itself.

That fact that it's not for you is fine. My comment was primarily referring to jury's role in the contest.

Satire does not require, in fact it insists on imperfection. It's a mockery, ffs. Also, this repetitiveness has its function.

Verka was brilliant and it stood the test of time.

The winning song has only 300k more streams than the second song :bibliahh:

That's embarrassing. Every year the winning song gets at least twice the streams of the second place song , cause it gets massive boost from the headlines.

This!

I am glad Loreen won and I've loved Tattoo since day one, but let's be real.

Okay but they should make the running orders random again, why is no one talking about that. Few songs got murdered this year just because of producers

The fact that some of us don't agree with the voting system(juries for example) , doesn't mean that Loreen wasn't amazing. She is absolutely a queen and doesn't deserve the hate. Even though I'm sure that no one hate on her cause she's such a kind and amazing person. If anything everyone is complaining about the juries , not her

UK shamelessly putting themselves at last position :dies:

I can see that random order can cause problems like 5 ballads in a row and damage the flow of the show. However it's not fair for producers to decide the order and ruin someone's chances.

I think more fair is to have more categories to choose : for example to have a pot for running order from #1-#5 then another one from #6-10 , another one from #11-16 and so on.  In this way, it will be more fair for everyone and the producers can choose which the order of the songs that will make a better flow  but in limited barriers

UK and Ukraine drew their running orders back in early March.

Absolutely not.

If a few countries with a lot of props randomly go one after another, It would be a HELL for the staff to bring it all out

Or if a few countries with ballads go one after another (or worse, if they OPEN the show with just ballads :deadbanana4:) That would be a mess

But I do agree that running orders are unfair in a sense that all the favorites are always put in favorable position while others are sacrificed and completely overshadowed

Oh ok, then I take it back. After all the production was great this year. So good for them:clap3:

People aren't being defensive because Käärijä is getting spotlight. The amount of hate Loreen has gotten due to all this is uncalled for; THAT is why we're being defensive.

They can call out EBU all they want, but Loreen does not deserve any hate whatsoever. The song, its production and her talent speaks for itself.

Yeah, I agree, that if people have a problem they should say it @ EBU.

And perhaps Käärijä drew in some people who normally never watch ESC, so they don't know how the voting works. So there's a level of ignorance involved in the backlash.

But certainly Loreen winning twice is so iconic. And the prospect of Eurovision in Sweden again is great. It could be a bigger show than this year's, at least in terms of budget.

Cha Cha Cha is the better song and a bigger B O P that never gets old, pure hype in the first half and pure euphoria in the second half :jonny5:

BUT his persona and performance gets really old real quick so I get why Loreen won despite the song being an annoying wailing Euphoria rehash mess (never liked Euphoria either). Cha Cha Cha the song will be more remembered in the long run :clap3:

This is definitely a factor, yeah. People who "don't normally watch ESC" usually vote for the extravagant performances, and in turn "boycott" the competition when they don't win.

The fact that Tattoo received more streams on Sunday than Cha Cha Cha after all that whiny outcry cements Loreen as the correct winner.

Can someone explain what the controversy with Poland is about?

Also a little OT but is there anyone in here who knows what is up with Noa's international attempt? I remember "Please Don't Suck" was her first international single but how come Atlantic (or whoever) didn't do any proper pushes like what was the point of that? @ZIVERT do you know anything about this?

Idrk tbh. She's had a few English songs, but none of them have really stuck. I thought maybe Eurovision would be her grand attempt, but we'll see - the fact she did so well in the contest (3rd place overall, winner of the ROTW vote) may indicate to her team to keep pushing. But despite her talent and charisma, everyone just sh*ts on the fact that she's on Israel and doesn't want to give her a chance lol. See posts in this thread saying "I would stan but she's from a country that shouldn't exist" and other similar comments :celestial5:

But Loreen got all the headlines and the winner's boost, so let's see the Monday numbers tomorrow. It could change.

I think it would be cool if some members from each country's local Eurovision fan clubs were in the jury.
