abolishing the jury is a terrible idea. there was a period when there was no jury and people just voted for joke acts all the time. this meant that countries trying to showcase serious talent were always punished, they subsequently stopped trying and began sending horrible performers, and eurovision attained the joke label :rip:

Eurovision is a fan competition.. it's for general public not for juries...juries were there when 'joke acts' like Netta won the Eurovision back in 2018 instead of Eleni Foureira. nothing changed.

Once again, you must be oblivious to the backlash going on. It was clearly not a 5 votes' difference... millions of people voted and they're now angry for having their choice overturned by 185 randos who only reward radio-friendliness. And in all of this Loreen has no fault, of course. :rip:

You’re acting like Finland came 26th with the jury and not 4th :rip:

In what world is Netta a joke act?:deadbanana4:

Better-written? Are you for real? It's an extremely formulaic song that can be almost exactly found on Ava Max's debut album when it comes to lyrics and sound :deadbanana2:the thing about Eurovision winners is, they always stand out in a way and set the mood for the following year. This is the first time in years I've felt that the contest isn't going forward - it's something we've completely already heard before. As you said it's a song contest, and Loreen's excellent performance abilities alone didn't make this otherwise very standard 2014'd dance pop song a winner in the eyes of the public of any participating country.

Wow Godva is so relevant

It seems you have some leftover trauma from 2015 that you’re taking out on Queen Mother, my friend :gaycat2:

I don't know where these super angry millions of people are :dies: all I see is a few thousand sore losers making unnecessary noise out of the 200,000,000 people watching the contest :gaycat5:

i've seen more people voice their complaints about this in a reasonable manner than deranged comments from pressed stand on my social media feeds, maybe it is because the german televote clearly voted in favour of finland (12) instead of sweden (1). There's always been very pressed stans who try to come for the winner but the way there's so many people on the winners side this year that completely fail to see the points people are respectfully presenting about how they feel the jury vote heavily leaned towards a sweden win just by the margin between the jury winners points and second place. sweden must have flopped to 5th or 6th place in the televote for them not to win. the fact that the jury runner up israel couldn't even win if it had finlands televote points (one of the biggest ever) is ridiculous :rip:

I love Loreen, and Tattoo was my favorite song in the contest. I wanted her to win, and now I kinda regret she even bothered to compete again. Euphoria is one of the best songs ever, and now her eurovision legend legacy feels tarnished by this fiasco.

The song is literally about female empowerment? Just because she added chicken noises doesn’t make it a joke act :rip:

Not y’all thinking Netta was a joke act :rip:  Like I love Fuego and it probably should have won but Netta’s song was well composed and she could perform is live impeccably.

She just made Eurovision history. Ignore the haters. She’s my favourite too and Euphoria will always be the best Eurovision winner song.

But ESC is bigger than ever now, lol. If you're talking about Netta, I think that song slaps. And Little Big from Russia would have won in 2020 if the event was held. If people wanna see something fun at ESC then so be it. And I don't want jury to be abolished either, but maybe make it count for 25% of the final results.

and the televote runner-up had no chance of winning last year even if they got jury winner's score from last year or even Loreen's score from this year.

this is how things work sometimes. I'm sure there are people being reasonable and disagreeing with the results, but the "backlash" of "angry millions" and "Loreen becoming a villain" narrative is so unhinged and limited to a few thousand bad-faith, sore losers.
