Life Savers Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Spain deserved to flop. We been knew since Benidorm. Legend Chanel unbothered.

So embarrassing after Chanel last year. I'm sure the spanish delegation is so confused and embarrassed. No other country is more passionate about Eurovision than them and this happens. It is kinda shocking because the whole presentation was fresh, well thought out, and beautiful, imo.

She's basically pop royalty in Ukraine, so I think the only way we could ever see a Tina comeback would be if she were internally selected. I predict that we will see LELY45 represent Ukraine in the next few years bc she's already popular (and somehow was turned down at Vidbir this year) Good to know that she's thriving. She's so charismatic and talented.
Gossip_Boy Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 France flopping in the juries and Austria flopping in the televote (and the overall floppage of both countries in general) was kinda shocking. I preferred Finland over Sweden but neither was among my absolute favourites so whatever. Happy Czechia ended up in the top 10. Still my favourite song this year even though I didn’t love the performance. Also happy Noa ended up in the top 3. Amazing performance and I also met her and she was a sweetheart so I have a soft spot for her lol.
Abracadabra Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 The production and hosting seemed so much better this year. I guess it was partly because the hosts were presenting in their first language so there was no awkward silences and jokes that fell flat and the whole thing just felt more fluid and flowed better.

I was OBSESSED with this song in 2006 lol. I downloaded it off of LimeWire after the final and listened to it on my MP3 player for MONTHS. It was great to see her on the Eurovision stage again!
Komet Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 Kaarija is currently on top of r/all. Like, all of reddit.💀 It's already the 2nd most upvoted post on r/eurovision after the Italy 2021 win, but it will pass that easily
abeille Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 All I know is this better spur Ireland into sending better entries moving forward

Hurem Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 I’m pretty sure there will be some changes made to how the jury votes are counted. I love Loreen, but Finland deserved this
Fevesy Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 The Ukrainian parts of the show ate so hard. Julia was a fantastic host and the flag parade was smash hit after smash hit. Hannah and Alesha did an amazing job too. I would want Hannah to host Eurovision every year

kimberly Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 this is NOT the first time a televote winner didn't win the contest, and it won't be the last. Kaarija's psychopathic fans aren't going to change Eurovision.
Funhouse Posted May 14, 2023 Posted May 14, 2023 A result like this was bound to happen when they removed the juries from the semi-finals tbh, I just didn't expect it to happen the very first year of the new qualification system lol. More and more countries will pander to the televote because they care more about making it to the final than winning and as a result the juries will only vote for the small number of jury-friendly songs that manage to squeeze in.

Hearing “our hearts are with Ukraine!” during the voting while they were giving 12 points to Israel was ******* jarring. No for real it was so bizarre. There was one country, I forget which, but the announcer was preaching for world peace meanwhile they gave 10 points to Israel like it’s a mess.

The GP clearly loved Kaarja. Tweets about him getting robbed are doing crazy numbers and all, it's not hard to acknowledge that the GP liked Kaa.

People are bringing up Verka in the post too, which is interesting because both Käärijä and Verka are straight men who lost to queer women

His "stans" are just general public, why are you acting like this uknown rapper from Finland has a BTS-sized fanbase? 💀 The people overwhelmingly wanted him to win, no wonder everywhere you look there's somebody angry Ot: Kinda funny how the televote awarded originality in a native language, while juries went head over heels for some mundame generic pop in AI-genrated english. You'd think it would be the opposite
