BOOM! Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 LET 3 is one of the worst things that happened to their music scene. They are promoting the worst things and i am actually disgusted that they got such a big support from the both public and juries. It seems like Croatia will never move on from some things.

It is so obvious that perpetual exposure to generic, light-weight, nondescript pop "bops" (in addition to grave failures of our educational systems) has seriously affected many a generation's ability to understand, enjoy, and/or interpret art (I don't mean a "masterpiece," but simply artistic output). God help us all. To all the people calling for this to be disqualified, please go and read about censorship in a dictatorship of your choice.

Konril Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Oh no... I really liked L'essenziale but haven't warmed up to Due Vite. I was hoping Lazza could take it. Italy has always been one of my favorite ESC countries because they consistently make bops that I really like.
Nashe Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Croatia finally getting its long overdue moment again they better not disqualify it after last year's (and very likely this year's) winners
Solaria Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Maria Sur better not mess with Loreen’s chances..

And what happened to the no-politics rule at Eurovision? Or does it not apply when it's referencing Russia?

Dante Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 damn everyone sucking bad so far the only one with good melodies are czechia and norway, lyrics are questionable
Pendulum Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 (edited) How come Belarus 2021 was disqualified for its well-hidden political message? How come countries that are currently perpetrating genocide like Azerbaijan and Israel still participating, but Russia got the boot not only from Eurovision but any other international ventures like the WC and potentially the Olympics? Some imbecile on r/eurovision was literally saying that if EBU forces Croatia to change their entry, EBU is openly pro-Russia? LIKE? So don't make turn this into a free speech debacle. Czechia's song might have political and historical undertones while this one is aggressive and in-your-face. People tune in Eurovision to entertain themselves and escape the mundane and devastating reality that we've been living in for the past 3 years. Nobody wants to see or hear this. Pendulum Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 And there's nothing more cringe than Eurofans being like OH MY GOD CROATIA YASSS GOOD SONG when whatever dirge Croatia has come up with is just sonically abhorrent. But of course, these people who barely listen to or know any music outside of Eurovision would hype songs like that. Deplorable.
Lil Mxnster Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 Norway is a certified baltic bop but it's too short and repetitive... I'm starting to get bored after one week on repeat. Alessandra serves, tho

Dante Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 It's noticeable that several countries are going in that direction, after Konstrakta's "weird" performance from last year made such an impact. But they failed to do it as classy as she did
Dante Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 And overall i'm bored with esc turning into anti-russian show for some "points" or as some would say crumbs... you remove russia from it and then several songs are about russia itself lmao
Funhouse Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 (edited) Is there anything in Croatia's lyrics that warrants it being disqualified? Probably not. Would I celebrate if it were to be disqualified because it's the most atrocious thing Eurovision has seen in years? Yes Edited February 12, 2023 by Funhouse
Komet Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand Let 3. The humour is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of political satire most of the jokes will go over a typical viewer's head. There's also their nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into their lyrics - the song's philosophy draws heavily from George Orwell literature, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these jokes, to realize that they're not just funny- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike Let 3 truly ARE idiots- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in their existencial catchphrase "Šč!" which itself is a cryptic reference to Turgenev's Russian epic Fathers and Sons. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as Mama Šč!'s genius unfolds itself on their television screens. What fools... how I pity them. 😂 And yes by the way, I DO have a tractor tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It's for the ladies' eyes only- And even they have to demonstrate that they're within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand.
mystery Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 I really hope Let 3 goes to Liverpool, the fumes around them have been lovely to follow.

Politics have always been and will always be part of Eurovision. Russia and Belarus should've never been disqualified/thrown out of the EBU, if you ask me. Freedom of expression should be universally applied and protected. Bad speech is fought with better speech.
mystery Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 I don't see a reason why they should be disqualified when there have been other even more directly political songs that went through to the contest. They will probably ask them to either change the performance slightly but I don't see anything in the lyrics that is more political than Czechia for example.
