What have your thoughts been about the BBC hosting of Eurovision? As a Brit, super disappointed at the quality of the interval acts, I know it's a sad year for Ukraine but wouldn't it be better for a bit more light hearted Ukrainian entertainment? I enjoyed Julia's opening performance and the drag one (the christmas one too kinda ate?) but it's not giving quality that I thought it would. Nothing can beat Rotterdam or Stockholm it seems :bird:

I kind of agree. I was hoping to see more humor. Watching drag queens lip sync is not entertaining to me. Hopefully Graham will be fun tonight.

also whats the jury obsession with vocals

this aint x factor or american idol lol

But it's not supposed to be a circus either, at least not for the jury. And it makes sense that industry professionals rate performances based on the technicalities in them.

There are three more parameters aside from the 'vocal capacity' on which the jury should base their votes. I think the most important one by far should be 'the composition and originality of the song'; like who cares if you're perfectly on pitch if your songs is bad or generic af.

I am VERY disappointed with the audio quality. The mixing is actually terrible and so many of the songs/vocals sounded muted and lacked any "punch". Stage is also meh overall.

I think the way the acts have used the stage has been more disappointing, I have never seen so much face shots or body liner shadow backgrounds in my life :rip:

I have to punish my Polish roots after finding out how they sabotaged Jann in their national selection cause that song is by far the best one. Luke Black got lucky because Jann would've stolen all his votes, I fear

thats truth backdrops are looking cheap (austria :rip: )

my biggest surprise was how the people from audience who were close to the stage were so big :rip: which meant that both stage and arena are kinda small or at least that's how they made it look

I agree with you, but I think it's fair to give some credit to vocals as well. It's a part of artistry after all, one part. There's definitely been a decline in how high people evaluate vocal talent in the music industry from the '90s until now. Maybe people got tired of the vocal acrobatics. Relatability seems to be more hot now.

Mae with a huge jump up to #39 on Spotify UK and she’s up to Top 10 on Apple Music too. I LOVE seeing the UK get behind and support our acts :jonny5:

Getting a commercial hit is more important than getting points, it’ll show other talented and aspiring British acts that Eurovision is not a career death sentence.

I cannot wait to see the post grand final boost!
