abelfenty Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Forgot we are being treated to a Rita GODra performance tonight
Komet Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 So after watching all the performances I'd say these are likely qualifiers, with the first 5 being safe Qs. Finland, Sweden, Israel >>> Norway, Moldova >>> Czech Republic, Croatia, Serbia, Portugal >>> Malta, Netherlands, Switzerland, Latvia >>> Azerbaijan, Ireland Azerbaijan + Ireland are prob chanceless, but I can see any of the eight remaining countries going both way, it's gonna be exciting

WalkAway Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 I'm sorry, I like the song, but Serbia deserves to flop. He doesn't even sing, he just whispers.

I feel like there's a chance he will get conan-osirisied this night aka only loved by a few artsy gheys (with telemoveis I was one of them lol) although I guess with a few diaspora votes here and there he will probably qualify

Sheegs Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Kinda bummed that Czechia's performance doesn't live up to their music video

ATRL Moderator khalyan Posted May 9, 2023 ATRL Moderator Posted May 9, 2023 Why Finland will win - massive televote appeal, reports of him getting the loudest applause at the jury show, winning audience polls 3x over second place - juries could reward the composition of the song since it's a nicely made mashup of two styles of songs into one - juries could feel pressured into giving it more jury votes than we expect based on odds and tele appeal - juries have rewarded less than stellar vocals with good staging packages in the past, such as Sweden 2018 getting 2nd in juries Why Finland won't win - some of the imagery might be a turnoff to casual voters on the night, such as the snake tongue or the human centipede - juries might punish the song for not having a vocal moment and being performed pretty much as a rap - Kaarija gets too carried away in performances, losing balance and nearly falling at the jury show yesterday. He'll need his jury performance to be completely in control to appeal to them - would other countries steal televotes from them? Croatia is very divisive but could be very dangerous in the televote if they make it through today. Israel, Norway, Austria could all get large televotes as well Why Sweden will win - Loreen can obviously sing very well, and Sweden has a reputation of sending fabulous staging packages to Eurovision - She could win the Duncan Lawrence way or by winning juries, giving her multiple paths forward to the crown - She has one of the most iconic wins in history, and even casual viewers might remember Euphoria and reward her comeback to the contest - if Kaarija gets eaten alive by the jury, then her path forward becomes easier Why Sweden won't win - Even though most casual fans won't know the melfest staging, just looking at the staging here on first glance isn't as WOW as before, which could affect televote - The televote has not been rewarding Sweden recently. Last year they were 5th, they were 11th in 2021, 9th in 2019, and 23rd in 2018. Could the televoters be tired of Sweden? - If other songs steal the jury vote from her, it could leave her with a gap large enough that can't be overcome for the win. France, Spain, Italy, and even some odd ball countries such as Lithuania, Portugal, Estonia, and Cyprus could all do well there. - Will people compare Tattoo with Euphoria and not give it as many points as they normally would because they perceive it to be a weaker song/staging than what they remember? This could apply to both jurors and televote.
Konril Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 A Nordic country will win. Though I'd rather it be Finland more than Sweden.
BOOM! Posted May 9, 2023 Posted May 9, 2023 Ukraine will definitely eat a huge amount of Finland's televotes. Even if Eurovision stans don't see it, it's inevitable to happen, because it's usually the GP voting the most and the pity votes will still be there.
