Azealia's Twitter/Instagram Megathread

"Was it giving horse and buggies sis"

If she uses a cello in her album should she have been at the ******* Vienna orchestra in 1652?

Where is this level of scrutiny for anyone else who makes a country album? And why does Azealia feel that Beyoncé owes her, or anyone else, anything?

This degree of scrutiny, which Azealia consistently reserves only for Black artists by the way, is the most racist thing about all this.

Beyoncé's thread or not, you said she doesn't uplift other black female artists, those were your exact words, so you should be able to provide examples of black female artists who have done more or better.

All those loosy excuses, this one is new, this one is Nicki, this one is retired, before retirement she had 8 whole albums with various tours, all except one very pop, where a bunch of black artists are marginalized, enough time to do that. Janet and Mariah are also veterans and had years to also do that. Doja is entering places in pop were few black female rappers have ever gone, why is she not bringing the marginalized with her? If you can hold Beyoncé to those ridiculous standards, a woman that went even to Africa to uplift black women, underrepresented and completely unknown to the scene, then you can provide examples for the others.

Beyoncé has done far more, she has done A LOT. And despite that you come here to say that she doesn't uplift black women just because in Renaissance there were no features of some obscure artists that YOU felt deserve a featuring is ridiculous and just plain wrong. Whether that fit with Beyoncé's musical vision or not. But it's not really surprising for someone who agrees with AB.

The point was also not to call those women out, it was to tell you that collaborating is not something that is decided on those arbitrary criteria which sole responsibility is put on Beyoncé's shoulders.

So you're skipping over the “especially with Renaissance" part huh? Lol.  Maybe I should've worded that one sentence differently (to account for that one soundtrack you pointed out).  Clearly Renaissance was my main gripe.  And it's still a valid point, whether you want to admit it or not. Bringing up other artists won't change this.

I don't understand what she is saying in the penultimate screenshot, because it reads like she is saying The Chicks, Gaga and Adele are the only times she's made an effort to share her platform with her black female peers

Beyoncé has probably made her cry more than Iggy and Russell combined at this point.

" Was it giving horses and buggy sis" .. nah shes too funny

this kinda showed her lack of comprehension skills though because it's pretty obvious what "carriages" were meant to represent in that song. odd, because she's clearly so smart. maybe she's just being willfully obtuse though.

It's misogynistic to think she is right to imply Jay Z is controlling Beyonce career . Bey has proved beyond reasonable doubt that she makes the decisions regarding her career. You may not like her collaborations with Jay Z, but it's insulting to bey to insinuate it's Jay Z decisions and not hers.

And the ROOT of country goes back to SLAVES on slave ships. Black people originated country music..its foundation. Get it right and do your research

"The origins of country music can be traced to the 17th century, when European and African immigrants to North America brought their folktales, folk songs, favorite instruments, and musical traditions."

https://www.loc.gov/collections/songs-of-america/articles-and-essays/musical-styles/popular-songs-of-the-day/country/#:~:text=The origins of country music, favorite instruments%2C and musical traditions.

"Country music encompasses an extremely wide range of material created over a broad span of time. The term itself did not appear in common usage until the mid-twentieth century. Country's oldest origins can be traced to British folk-music traditions – including ballads (“The House Carpenter”) and fiddle tunes (“The Devil's Dream”) – that were brought to America by English and Scots-Irish emigrants during the seventeenth through nineteenth centuries"

As you can see, it's a genre created from blending MANY different people's music. Maybe you should do YOUR research. :coffee2:

For someone who has looks like this, who is really trying to cosplay as a white woman Azealia?

and it's bold of her to say all this as someone who makes music that caters to white gays who frequent bathhouses unprotected.
