D.M.F Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 I love Rihanna but it seems like the S&M Remix is completely forgotten. Why do you think that is!?
Erreur2 La Nature Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Christina's Moves Like Jagger got all the attention and eclipsed Britney's S&M !
Chainsmoker Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Because of Britney. There’s the answer you wanted D.M.F.
Pikachoo Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 (edited) yes it is. Even Rihanna wants to forget about it. you need to remember the circumstances of that remix. Rihanna at the time was a very evil woman; very career focused and would stop at nothing to get her way to the top. she wanted to be the next Mariah Carey (of the billboard charts, not of singing). She saw that S&M's sales were slowing down faster than expected. it was like Katy's E.T meltdown, but Rihanna would never document her meltdowns for the world to see. but she was panicking, honey yes she was. "I did not leave my country behind just to flop like this" Rihanna would tell Def Jam "we need to give s&m's a boost". So Def Jam devised a scheme. They would reach out to the two artists in the industry with the worst contracts; aka, the biggest slaves of the industry; Kesha and Britney. Kesha had a horrible contract she could not get out of. it was not a winning contract. and Britney was at the mercy of her conservatorship. Kesha was under mental exhaustion at this point, and was literally not able to get out of bed to record a verse; her team, although evil, was at least able to say no when they saw what bad shape Kesha was in,. Britneys team however, did not care. Britney was whacked out of her mind hopped up on Dr.Pill Popper's drug cocktail during the entire Femme Fatale era. it was sad to watch. it honestly was, I feel so bad for Britney for having to go through with this. her father didnt care. lynn didnt care (dont believe her story now that she always caredfor britey, its a lie). they literally strapped a barely coherent britney to a table to get her upright, and shoved that microphone right in her face. once they got the stems, they brought collaborator Myah Marie in to polish up the vocals, and the remix was shipped. Poor Britney. i hope she never has to record another song again (if she chooses not to). Rihanna was not aware of Britneys mental state, but to be honest, Rihanna thought of Britney like a hamburger; she didnt want to know how the burger was made, just as long as it tasted good. the remix did what it had to do, gave Rih another #1, but at what cost? youkneekorn Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 The remix did what it needed to and got the song to #1 on the charts something that not all feat. artists accomplish.
Mephisto Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Clearly not since you're making threads about it, but then you're obsessed with Britney so I doubt you could ever forget any of her songs. Such a stan! If you want an example of being forgotten, we don't have to look further than Xtina.

Devin Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Not another Rihanna drag thread. OT: Classic, no. Remembered, moderately.
BrokenMachine Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Why did I know you were going to be the OP from this thread ? No one else makes threads to drag Britney like you do 1 hour ago, Pikachoo said: she wanted to be the next Mariah Carey (of the billboard charts, not of singing)
Duanielipa Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 I didn’t even know there was a remix. In the UK they only played the original

JennyWayne Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 I mean, I had never even heard of it before I joined ATRL The remix hitting number one was one of the first irrelevant 1-week #1s that are so rampant in the past few years. The original is still remembered though
konaa Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 It needs to be. Terrible remix with some truly abysmal vocals from Britney.

Planet Mars Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 I don't even remember it being a thing, the only version I heard back in 2011 was the Rihanna one. Britney had several hits that year that were all over radio (I Wanna Go, Till the World Ends) and S&M Remix was not one of them.

Khal Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Deserves to be. It's atrocious and idk why anyone thought that feature was a good idea.
